Crazy Weather... all clothing needed!!
We go outside almost every day! The crazy MN weather continues to make dressing for the outdoors challenging. Our teachers are having to adjust to the changing weather and what is expected for outdoor recess clothing. Please help make this process easier by having both winter gear and early spring clothing for your child at school. If you child is wearing shorts to school, they will need pants at recess. Now with the snow, they need their full winter gear.
As the weather gets colder, here are some tips for your child’s outdoor clothing
Label all of your child’s outdoor clothing. Students should come with:
winter jacket
boots
hat and gloves
snow pants
I LOVE TO READ MONTH!
Books and Bagels: Updated dates: 26 (A-L) and March 27 (M-Z)
Spring Testing
Lakeside conducts various forms of testing throughout the school year so we can evaluate students’ learning and inform our teaching practices. District level assessments are the FAST and Oral Reading Fluency (ORF) assessments. The Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment (MCA) testing is state-mandated for grades 3-4-5. High achieving students in grades 2-5 take a test called CogAt in the spring to screen for our high potential/gifted programming.
24-25 Teacher Request information
The 2024-25 school year teacher request forms will be available in the Lakeside and Primary offices April 2nd-12th If you choose to request for next year, the form will need to be fully completed and turned into either office by 4:00pm on April 12th. Forms that are turned in late or not completed accurately will not be considered. Also, know that teacher placement requests need to have an educational focus. To assist with the process, please make sure to have the following completed on the form:
Student’s name, current grade and teacher.
List FOUR teachers you are requesting. There must be four different teacher’s names listed for the form to be considered valid. The requests are four equal requests, not ranked first, second, third or fourth.
When answering the two questions on the form, please make sure they are educational requests. We will not honor requests for students to be with friends or neighbors.
Please know that completing the request form does not guarantee your student will be placed in a requested teacher’s classroom. There are many factors taken into consideration when students are placed in classes. While parent request is one component, there are many other factors that determine a well balanced classroom. We strive to create the best educational environment possible for all of our students and appreciate your support and understanding with this process.
