L.H. Rather Board Report: April

Congratulations to Kane Hatfield, who was voted our student of the month! Kane continually strives for excellence as evidenced by his annual goal to make student of the month. He goes out of his way to help make sure L.H. Rather is welcoming to all students, and he is always asking how he can help his teachers. Kane is a nominee for our Academic Excellence award this year.

Our elective teachers were tasked with helping to support our students by providing cross-curricular support in the classroom. Coach Hughes accepted the challenge with flying colors and began a lesson that incorporated writing and reading to help engage the students. Our students in both 7th and 8th grade have been reading "Don't You Dare Read This, Mrs. Dunphrey" and creating their own diary.

The BHS students in Mr. Stoddard's AP Environmental Science class were welcomed back to junior high to present a lesson they developed to share with our students in preparation for the solar eclipse. Our students loved the opportunity, and their presentation was phenomenal!

While many traveled to Bonham from as far as Seattle, Washington to view the Totality Eclipse, our students just had to step outside of the classroom to have ultimate learning experience! It was such an honor to experience it with them as you could hear the laughter, see the memories being made among friends, and hear the awes of amazement as our students experienced the 360 degree sunset that is the wonder of science!
