The Weekly Update 10/18/2024
Notes from the Office
Hello Eggert Families,
This week students learned all about fire safety, thanks to the Orchard Park Fire Department. Students in grades Pre-k-2nd had the opportunity to see a fire truck and learn all about the job of our local firefighters. We appreciate our community helpers brining this valuable information to our students.
As a friendly reminder, when shopping for or creating Halloween costumes, please be mindful of a few safety guidelines for school. Fake weapons of any sort are not allowed in school. We also ask that inflatable costumes and masks not be worn for safety reasons.
Have a wonderful weekend, and Go Bills!

Service Provider Spotlight
Our related service providers and academic intervention providers do amazing things with students here at Eggert. We hope to spotlight some useful information from these experts that families may find beneficial.
This week's tip comes from one of our Occupational Therapists, Mrs. Giacobbe:
Did you know that myopia (nearsightedness) is increasing among children? Ongoing research suggests that this rise is linked to extended screen time, with kids spending too much time focusing on close-up objects and not enough on distant ones, like when they’re outdoors. Here’s your invitation to prioritize outdoor activities: enjoy family walks and let your children play outside while reducing screen time!
