Sagebrush Elementary
Family Update 9/20/2024
Message from the Principal
Dear Sagebrush Elementary Families,
As the leaves begin to change and the crisp fall air settles in, I want to take a moment to thank you for your continued support as we move further into the school year. This is such a beautiful and exciting time of year, and it brings many wonderful opportunities for growth, learning, and community building here at Sagebrush.
Our students have already accomplished so much in these first few weeks, and it’s truly inspiring to see them engaged, curious, and committed to their learning. With fall upon us, this season brings new challenges and milestones for all of our students, and we are excited to continue nurturing their academic progress and personal growth.
As we enter the heart of the school year, I’d like to remind you of a few important things:
- Routines and Consistency: Now that we are in full swing, maintaining daily routines for school, homework, and rest will help your child stay focused and succeed academically.
- Parent-Teacher Conferences: Please keep an eye out for information about upcoming conferences. This is a great opportunity for us to partner together in support of your child’s learning and progress.
- Community Events: Fall is filled with exciting school events, from Culture Night to Trunk or Treat, and we encourage you to join us as we celebrate the season and strengthen our school community.
Fall is a wonderful time to reflect on all that we are grateful for. I am thankful for our incredible students, our hardworking staff, and our supportive families. Together, we make Sagebrush Elementary a special place where children can thrive.
Wishing you all a fantastic fall season filled with learning, growth, and joyful memories. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or need anything at all. We are here to support you and your children!
Sincerely,
Chris Powell
Principal
Permission Slips for Fun Run Prize Day
As a school, we raised enough money to participate in the inflatables during Prize Day for the Fun Run. Each child must have a signed permission slip in order to participate. Please send a signed permission slip to school with your child by Tuesday, at the latest.
School Accountability Committee Meeting this Thursday!
The School Accountability Committee (SAC) plays a vital role in shaping the educational experience at Sagebrush Elementary. It is a collaborative group made up of parents, teachers, community members, and the school administration, all working together to support and enhance the academic success and overall well-being of our students.
Purpose of the SAC:
The SAC’s primary function is to advise and support the school’s leadership in setting goals and priorities. Specifically, the committee:
- Monitors School Performance: The SAC reviews data related to student performance and school programs, helping to identify areas where improvement is needed.
- Supports Budget Decisions: The committee provides input on how school funds are allocated, ensuring resources are used to support student learning effectively.
- Develops and Monitors the Unified Improvement Plan (UIP): SAC members help create and review the school’s UIP, which outlines strategies for improving academic achievement.
- Encourages Community Involvement: The SAC fosters a strong relationship between the school and the larger community, encouraging involvement and communication between families and staff.
Our first School Accountability Meeting is this Thursday, September 26 at 6:00 pm in the Sagebrush Library. We would love for you to attend.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:
Random Acts of Kindness at Home
At Sagebrush, teachers have talked to their classes about "filling others' buckets" with drops of kindness. Some actions empty buckets while others fill it up.
At home, you can use these questions:
● What words or ways people act fill your bucket?
● What words or ways people act empty your bucket?
● When you fill people’s buckets, how do you think they feel about you?
● What can you do if your disrespectful words or actions empty someone else’s buckets?
The people in your home need encouragement and kind words just as much as you. If you are ready to go the extra mile, try this:
● Offer 3 genuine compliments to others in your home this week!
● How did they react? How did you feel giving the compliments?
● Kindness is contagious! Pass it on.

Remember that you can extend kindness to yourself with positive self-talk!
Thank you for being a part of our learning community!
