Centennial Campaign Update

Dear SVDP Community,

It was great to celebrate our School’s Centennial with many of you over the last few weeks. From the Proclamation at City Hall, to the fun of the Celebration Block Party, to our gathering at the Centennial Mass, we are reminded how fortunate we are to belong to such a vibrant and warmhearted community. SVDP is a special place, where our children are encouraged to grow into their best selves, supported by families that sacrifice their time, talents, and treasures to make this a reality.

In this spirit, we’d like to provide an update on the Elevated Sport Court and ask for your help. To date, the Centennial Campaign has raised over $5.2 million in cash and pledges thanks to the generosity of many families, alumni, parishioners, and foundations! Construction planning is in full swing with a target to start work by December 2024, completing before school starts next fall. The kids are getting excited for a bigger, safer place to play at recess, and we can’t wait to gather for the most amazing Fall Festival there next year.

During recent planning, we’ve learned of additional requirements to upgrade the gym bathrooms for ADA compliance, along with more stringent line of credit policies from the Archdiocese. As a result, to start construction this year we need to secure $1.2 million in pledges by November 1st. If we come up short, our next opportunity to start construction will be May 2025, driven by Archdiocese schedules. This is frustrating to hear, with a short amount of time to respond. But we’re 81% of the way to the goal, with a generous community that knows how to rally!

We are asking for your help in contributing a Leadership Gift of $25,000 or higher, payable over 5 years. This is not a small ask, nor do we make it lightly. Regardless of amount, your contribution will impact every student and family for generations to come.

We look fondly on those who sacrificed a century ago to build SVDP. One hundred years from now, we hope the community will do the same. We will continue to provide updates as the project progresses.
