ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT - Week of December 18, 2022
HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETICS
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
BOYS INDOOR TRACK
The Boys Track team traveled to Toms River Monday night for their first indoor meet of the season. Over 30 schools from across the state competed in the South Jersey Track Coaches Association meet.
Senior Ahmad Fogg came in second place in the High Jump and the Hurdles
The 4X800 team of Amir Halim, Chase Mazur, Ryan Taylor, and Christopher Manzo came in 1st place!!
The 4X400 team of Amir Halim, Chase Mazur, Christopher Manzo and Freshman Jalen Green came in 3rd place
Senior Christopher Griffen threw a personal best in the shot put and came in 3rd place.
GIRLS INDOOR TRACK
The sprint medley relay team of Taylor Rooney, Gabriel Hiltner, Isabelle Cheeseman and Kiki Schlemo ran a 4:38! Congrats girls!
BOYS BASKETBALL
Boys’ Varsity 🏀 beat Bridgeton on Tuesday 79-47. DJ German led the team with 19 points and 6 steals, and Keion Elliot added 14 points. They are now 2-1
Boys’ Varsity 🏀 beat AC last night 55-39, in what started off a very close game. EHT went into the half up by only 4, but came out strong in the 2nd half. Jay-Nelly Reyes led the team with 12 points, 6 rebounds, and 7 steals. Jamil Wilkins added 11 and CJ took charge on the perimeter nailing 3-3 pointers to add 9. The team improved to 3-1 and will play Palmyra in the Haddons Showcase on Dec. 27.
GIRLS VARSITY BASKETBALL

EHT Girls' Basketball team defeated Cedar Creek 32-11. EHT relied on a strong defense and balanced scoring attack. Ava Kraybill 8 points, Lyla Brown 6 points, Averie Harding 6 points, Kara Wilson 6 points, Lindsay Dodd 4 points and Eva Derbyshire 2 points.

EHT Girls' Basketball team lost to Ocean City 39-15. The girls' look to bounce back on Monday 12/19 against Atlantic Christian.

12/19
EHT Girls' Basketball team defeated Atlantic Christian 40-31. Averie Harding finished with 20 points and 14 rebounds. Lyla Brown was also in double figures scoring 10 points.
EHT 2-1
12/21
EHT Girls' Basketball team defeated Middle Twp 46-43. Lyla Brown made a three with a minute left to give EHT a 45-43 lead. EHT's defense got a big stop to hold on to the lead. EHT had a balanced scoring attack with Averie Harding scoring 15, Lyla Brown 11, and Kara Wilson 10. It was a true team effort with every girl that played finding a way to contribute to the win.
Egg Harbor edges Middle Township - Girls basketball recap
Lyla Brown finished with 11 points while Kara Wilson added 10 points for Egg Harbor (3-1), which held Middle Township to just 16 points in the second half to secure the win.
Late night roundup for 12/21: EHT girls get upset win
Lyla Brown sank a 3-pointer with 41 seconds left to propel the Egg Harbor Township High School girls basketball team to one of the program’s biggest wins in years Wednesday night.

Mariah Newman scored a game high 17 points leading the Eagles over the Pirates in our season opener. Reese Weiss added 15 and Samantha Battersby chipped in 11. Player of the Game: Mariah Newman

EHT 37 vs. Atlantic Christian 28
Skyler Wood scored a game high 12 points and Mariah Newman added 9 as the Eagles beat the Cougars on Monday. The girls played great team defense and made adjustments in the second half to hold on for the win. Player of the Game: Leah McKoy

EHT 22 vs. Middle Twp 36
Guards Mariah Newman and Skyler Wood combined for 20 points last night as the Eagles fell short to a very talented Middle Twp JV team. Middle pressured and challenged our guards the entire game but our guards hung tough and did not quit. We look forward to playing them in the second half of our season. Queen of the East Girls Tournament Results - 3 EHT wrestlers competed.
Kylie Wright - 4th place
Cami Bird - 5th place
The Wrestling team won their first match of the season against Buena 42-30. Winning for the Eagles by decision were Vincent Faldetta (144) and Aiden Seratore (215), and winning by pin were Calvin Johnson(165), Kaiden Valera (285), and Tyler Thomas (113). They travel to Oakcrest Thursday, December 22nd.
Next Thursday (12/29) is the Joe Marinelli Wrestling Tournament being held at our EHTHS. Come out and support the team!
SWIMMING
The Swim team had a nice win over Absegami on Tuesday. The girls won 118-46, with strong performances by Rachel Yushan and Denise Yushan, who each had 3rd place finishes, and Julia Lathom and Kayla Nguyen who each had 2nd . The boys won 121-48, led by Max Smilevski, Corey Lin, and Charlie Seivard, who each had 3 medals and Leo Smilevski and Dylan DeWitt with 2 medals. Both teams are now 3-0.

MIDDLE SCHOOL ATHLETICS
FERNWOOD GIRLS BASKETBALL
Fernwood Girls’ 🏀 took first place at the Linwood Invitational Tournament on Wednesday evening. MVP was Kennedy Broughton and the whole team played solid defense and created turnovers to hold them in the 4th Quarter. The team kicks off their regular season on Jan. 4 at home against Galloway.
ALDER/FERNWOOD BOYS BASKETBALL COMBO TEAM
Boys’ Middle school 🏀 won the consolation championship 🏆 of the Linwood Invitational Tournament on Wednesday evening. Jalen Bell led the team with 18 points. Fernwood opens their regular season on Jan. 4 at Galloway and Alder opens up on Jan. 5 at home against St. Joseph Regional.
Middle School Winter 1 sports are underway!
Winter 1 sports include Boys' and Girls' Basketball, Wrestling, and Unified Bowling.
Winter 2 sports includes Co-ed Volleyball and Unified Basketball. Registration will open Dec. 15 and practices will begin February 13.
