First Day of School and Other News

Dear Avon Lake City Schools Community,

Happy August! The start of school is right around the corner, as the first day of the 2024-2025 school year is Tuesday, August 20th for grades 1st through 12th and Thursday, August 22nd for kindergarten students. Be sure to visit your students’ building home pages for updated information regarding important back to school reminders and activities. Principals and administrators are back in their buildings, and they are beginning to make the final preparations to make this school year special! Can’t wait to see you all!

Upcoming Coffee Talks on Wednesday, August 7th and Wednesday, August 14th

As promised, district administrators will host our next Coffee Talk on Wednesday, August 7th from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. at McDonalds at 32799 Walker Road and on Wednesday, August 14th from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. at The Kitchen located at 32822 Walker Road. Those interested can ask questions in an informal setting and chat about relevant topics pertaining to the Avon Lake City Schools. Come on out and join us!

Avon Lake High School Wins Bus Safety Video Award from Ohio School Safety Center!

Congratulations to our awesome High School video production team, which was recently recognized by the Ohio School Safety Center for winning the School Bus Safety Award video contest! Created by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine to increase awareness about school safety and collaboratively engage students, staff, families, and stakeholders, their recent summit featured a variety of awards, and Avon Lake High School’s video for bus safety took top honors. A special shout-out goes to Andrew Repasy who filmed and did all of the editing/graphics for the project, and Drew Gardner for keeping video production not only relevant, but highly successful. Watch their outstanding work here!

Over the summer months you will receive an email notifying you to complete your student's back-to-school forms via your PowerSchool Parent Account. All forms are to be completed prior to the first day of school. This is a one-stop shop for updating your child’s emergency and medical information, as well as signing off on the annual permission forms for school district policies.
