Dear Deer Hill Families,

Thank you so much for joining us at last week's Open House. Teachers were so appreciative of the opportunity to meet you and share a bit about their classrooms. Additionally, Mr. Youmans' free throw and putting challenges were a hot ticket! The competition was fierce and the stakes high. . .congratulations to the following winners who earned their class an extra PE!

PSO Outdoor Family Movie Night: Please join the PSO for an Outdoor Family Movie Night on Friday, October 4. Bring a blanket to the field beginning at 5:45. The PSO will be showing Inside Out 2 starting at 6:30. Tickets are $25 a family and can be purchased here.

Buses & Instruments -- a Tight Squeeze: Our buses are at FULL capacity and instruments are additional "passengers" that complicate things a bit. If your schedule allows, please consider driving your child to school if they are toting a large instrument case. Alternatively, perhaps the instrument can hitch a ride with you while your child catches the bus -- our vestibule is open from 8:00-4:00 and instruments are welcome to be dropped off or picked up there.

Away for the Day: Deer Hill is proud to have been an "Away for the Day" school for many years. As our handbook states, "Deer Hill strongly discourages students from bringing electronic devices including, but not limited to, cell phones, tablets, and wearable technology devices (i.e., Apple watches) that text/call/connect to the internet to school. We are not responsible for loss or damage to these items, and they MUST remain in students’ backpacks/lockers for the duration of the school day. Students may not access or use these devices during the school day or on field trips. Any communication between students and their families must be placed via the classroom or office phone."

Deer Hill Happenings

Meet Our New SRO: At the last School Committee meeting, Officer Greg Lowrance was officially appointed as Deer Hill and Osgood's new School Resource Officer (SRO). Officer Lowrance (aka Officer Greg or Officer G.Lo) has already established himself as a friendly face among the Deer Hill community. His office is a welcoming spot, and he's been visible throughout our school as he builds relationships with our students. He's even Hugo-approved!

Character Assembly w/ Chris Poulos: Thank you to the Deer Hill PSO for sponsoring an all school assembly with Chris Poulos. Chris entertained students and staff not only with his impressive BMX stunts, but also with his messages of perseverance, kindness, and positivity. A big shout out to Mrs. Massari and Mrs. Cataldo who stepped out of their comfort zones to be part of the show (yep, that's who he's jumping over with his bike!)
