From the Principal's Desk...
Elmwood Families,
We can say that Autumn is here! The weather has started to change and the kids are getting into a great routine at school. The staff celebrated the fall season with a Coffee Truck and Flannel Day!
We would like to thank the PATT for organizing Tom's Coffee truck for our staff. It was much appreciated and a great way to start a Friday!
We will be having a Spirit Week coming up in collaboration with all the schools in the district for Red Ribbon Week! It will be the week of October 28th! The main change is we will celebrate Halloween on Thursday and not the district wide spirit day! Red Ribbon Week serves as a powerful reminder that ordinary Americans nationwide contribute significantly to their communities every day by embracing a drug-free lifestyle.
MAP scores went home today, please be sure to talk with your students about their progress and set a goal with them at home about the next MAP assessment. This occurs in January.
Reminder that being on time to school is extremely important for students to start their day! It sets them up for success for the day and they excel when they are here on time. We have free breakfast for all students so encourage them to get here early. This goes from 8:20-8:35am. We will be reaching out to parents for students that have excessive tardies.
This week, Polish Club and Multicultural Club began. We will have Math Olympiad is starting soon along with a Yearbook club! Our student council is working on signs for Red Ribbon Week. Choir continues to be a popular club as they prepare for their concert in December. We will continue to try to have more after school activities.
There is also additional information regarding Halloween and other relevant events. Please take the time to read through it and reach out if you have any questions.
Thank you!
Mr. Lerner

Halloween Information 🎃
Our annual Halloween Parade will be on Thursday, October 31st at 2:20 PM. Please read the following guidelines to ensure a safe and fun celebration for all.
- Students in K-4 may wear their costumes to school. 5th grade students are asked to bring their costumes to school and will change into them prior to the parade.
- Please have your child wear a costume that they can put on independently, and one that they are able to participate in their regular school day wearing. Your child needs to be able to independently use the restroom in their costume.
- Costumes must be reasonable. NO MASKS are permitted to be worn. Please do not let your child bring a mask to school. No replica weapons are permitted. No inflatable costumes. All student's clothing needs to conform to the rules listed in the school handbook. Costumes may not be excessively gruesome or frightening. Please avoid painting your child's entire face. School administration will require your child to change if their costume is not appropriate or does not fit in the guidelines.
- If your classroom is doing Halloween treats, the classroom teachers will let you know. We kindly request individually wrapped, store bought treats. Please do not bring candy with nuts. Students will bring all treats home.
- All students will participate in the parade unless a parent requests that their child not take part in the parade. Please contact Mr. Lerner if you wish for alternate arrangements to be made for your child.
Parents wishing to view the parade:
Students will parade on the sidewalks around the school. The parade will begin at 2:20pm. We will walk through the school first and then out Door 1. We will walk down 76th Avenue toward Belden, down Belden, and back up 75th Court onto the playground and back into the building. No child can be dismissed from the parade route and only students and staff are permitted back inside of the building.
In the event of rain, the parade will be cancelled. If it is cold, please be sure your child has appropriate clothing.
For the safety of your children, please do not wear any Halloween masks or any other type of costumes that will prohibit us from identifying our parents.
