Pirates Post
Week of October 25th
Message from Principal Drew...
We have had a great week PCHS. We welcomed Mrs. Jennifer Evans to the PQ family as our new English teacher. She comes to us from Florida and has already made a positive impact on our school. If you see Mrs. Evans be sure to welcome her and make her feel at home. Students in Group A began eating lunch in the cafeteria and Group B students will eat in the cafeteria this week. Our athletic teams also had a successful week with a win on Senior Night for our Football team, a playoff win for our Varsity Volleyball team, the successful completion of an undefeated season for our JV Volleyball team, and recognition of our Cross Country team as Jayden White won the Conference Meet and was named Male Runner of the Year and All-Conference, Coley Drew was named All-Conference, and Coach Jeff Winslow was named Male Cross Country Coach of the Year.
We have another active week coming up this week. We will agree to be drug free as we take part in Red Ribbon Week: On Monday Wear Red to signify you are RED-y to live drug free, on Tuesday Life is Your Journey wear college clothing or dress as your future career, on Wednesday Don't let drugs mix you up wear mismatched clothes or camo, on Thursday we will be throwing it back wear a retro hat or dress, and on Friday we will vote for your future wear red, white and blue.
The school schedule this week also includes:
Monday night we have a make-up Football game at home versus South Creek (6 PM Kick-off). On Tuesday Volleyball will host a 2nd round playoff match versus Eno River Academy 5 PM, Friday we will send home report cards and Friday night we will play on the first round of the football playoffs, and Saturday our Cross Country team will compete at the Regional Finals at Pamlico High School and our band will compete at the Crystal Coast Band Classic. Good luck to all our students as they represent our school and community with tremendous preparation, effort, and skill.
Seniors you still have time to complete your FASFA application. We want 100% of our Seniors to complete this process. Please see one of our guidance counselors or Ms. Gray to get this done as soon as possible.
Future dates to mark on your calendar include: Picture Day for all students November 1st, our HOSA Blood Drive will be held on Nov. 5th in the gym, Senior Portrait makeups will be held on November 12th, and Basketball tryouts start on November 1st.
Parents and students we have 7 weeks left in the grading period before final exams begin. Keep your work up to date and ask for help when it is needed. Every student at PCHS has the opportunity to be successful. Hard work, consistent effort, attention to detail, and daily attendance are all keys to your success. We are here to help in any way we can. Keep up the good work.

Expectations of a Pirate...
Arriving at school on time is important to your success in the classroom. Tardies continue to be an issue. Please be mindful that 3 tardies will result in an unexcused absence. Additionally, if you drive to school, your parking pass could be revoked for accumulating excessive tardies. When you are late for school, not only is it an interruption to your teacher and classmates when you arrive late to the classroom, but you are also missing out on important instructional time.
