Dear Families,
I can't believe it is March already! The highlight of this week hands down, was the 4th Grade Music Program! Students played their ocarinas, sang jazz and blues and even improvised using their ocarinas! We have some amazing musicians!
We have so much more to look forward to in the next few weeks leading up to Spring Break with tons of great events still to come including Grade 3 Music Program on March 21st and (drum roll please) PJ & Stuffies Game Day on March 22nd! Students have earned this day for exceeding the school's reading goal during February's Readathon and for filling the Star Box.

The Lost & Found is OVERFLOWING!!! Please take a moment to come into the school and take a look. We will be doing a purge (and donation to the PPS Clothes Closet) at Spring Break. Thank you for your help in getting items back where they belong!

Get Ready! We are welcoming local author and Llewellyn parent, Michelle Sumovich, to our school on March 15th! She will share her very first children's book, One More Jar of Jam, and give us a sneak peek at others that are coming soon. If you would like to purchase an autographed copy of her book, please use the link below. All orders must be placed by March 4th in order for them to be delivered on the day of the assembly.
After School Enrichment Program Update!
Registration will open March 15th at 10am for Spring Session which will run from April 1st through June 7th. Check next week's flyer for schedule and class descriptions via 6crickets. We are still recruiting instructors and classes and looking for parents to host classes and clubs (Pokemon, crafting, LEGO, photography are just some ideas). Sellwood Community House Events you don't want to miss!
On Sunday March 3rd, from 2-4 pm at Moreland Presbyterian Church, we are hosting a workshop for parents called How to be an Askable Adult, with human sexuality educator Rachel Ginocchio. This is a fantastic opportunity for parents to become more comfortable talking to their kids about puberty and sex education. The event is FREE, with a suggested donation of $15 to benefit the SCH rebuilding fund.

This event is perfect for families with little ones! There will be crafts, face painting, snacks, and lots of fun music. The cost is $25/child, and adults are free. Every ticket comes with a raffle entry for April 2024 Blazers tickets!
Sellwood Parent Night. Tuesday, March 12. 6:00-7:00PM
Do you have a 5th grader moving on to Middle School next fall? Then plan on attending the Sellwood Parent Night on March 12th from 6-7:00PM.
Girls on the Run is back at Llewellyn! (Mondays & Wednesdays at 3:30pm)
Girls on the Run participant registration is now open! Girls on the Run focuses on empowering youth through research-based lessons that support social-emotional skill building and incorporate physical activity. A nonprofit after-school program, they provide safe, empowering spaces for girls and nonbinary youth of all abilities in grades 3rd-5th or 6th-8th. Register today for 10 weeks of fun, friendship and movement! The season starts March 18th and ends June 1st with a 5K celebration. Every Friday will be a School Spirit Day. Students and staff are encouraged to wear their Llewellyn gear new or old. One Friday per month will be a fun theme. On 3/15 it will be Sports Day!

News from the PTA
Welcome back everyone!
PTA Happenings
Congratulations to The Dog Ears for winning our local OBOB competition!!!! They are a third grade team and we are so proud that they will represent us at regionals. A special thank you to all the parents and community members who coached a team or helped during the competition days. A huge thank you to Sarah Sell, parent volunteer, who helped our awesome librarian Treasa Street to plan the event, get book sets for our students to use, and organize the schedules and use of our school during the competition. So many volunteers are part of this amazing event and we are so grateful for all of you!
There are still plenty of volunteer opportunities to spruce our school garden! There are several ways to help. There are several super critical construction projects like replacing the shed roof so there is no leaking inside the shed and our Mason bee houses are protected from the rain, installing the picket fence, and removing the old bed frames. We also need some classroom garden liaisons to connect with teachers to use the garden in classroom projects and general garden upkeep. Our Earth Day event will be on April 20 and we need volunteers to be leads for the garden work party and Earth day themed crafts, games, and activities. Please check Konstella for the sign ups to give our garden some spring love!

From The Foundation
Principal Pam's message last week was clear, PPS budget cuts will impact Llewellyn next year. Three classes will be impacted with larger class sizes.
The purpose of the Llewellyn Foundation is to raise funds throughout the year to provide additional staff positions to the school. Principal Pam has outlined her plan for additional support that will go to the whole school:
1. Looking for 2 part time EAs
2. Fund part time counselor for students
In order to make this happen, we need support from parents to fund these additional positions. We are calling on you to donate now. You can do so in the following ways:
1. One-time or recurring donation directly to the Foundation. Any donation helps.
2. Get involved - join the Foundation today to help fund raise.
3. Participate - go to dine outs and upcoming events.
You can DONATE HERE. Funds raised through June will go towards hiring a half-time counselor and 1-2 educational assistants in the 24-25 school year.
FOUNDATION EVENTS
Thank you to everyone who was able to stop by Pure Green last Tuesday. We are really excited about our next event - throughout March, our friends at The Record Pub are hosting COMMUNITY TRIVIA NIGHTS, every Wednesday at 7 pm. Then on Wednesday, May 8, we have a DINE OUT at The Portland Bottle Shop. More events are in the works so please stay tuned. Hope to see you there!

PPS is working to make our buildings more climate friendly by lowering emissions and increasing health and comfort. To figure out how to prioritize this work, we need your help!
We're asking families, students, and teachers to join us for public listening/input sessions on the district's decarbonization planning. We want to find out what and how we should prioritize this work to help give students and teachers the best possible experience they can have each day in PPS schools. Everyone from the community is invited to join for these 60 minute meetings.
March 18, 5:30-6:30 PM -- Franklin High School, Room M-223, for all schools in the Franklin and Cleveland clusters (all are welcome)
You can also attend the Lincoln High School meeting on March 19, 5:30-6:30 PM @ Lincoln HS if that date works better for you.

Raising Readers: A Family Workshop coming March 2nd!
The Office of Teaching and Learning, in partnership with the Office of Student Learning and Family Engagement, is excited to host Raising Readers: A Family Workshop on Saturday, March 2, 2024 from 9:00am-12:30pm! This dynamic event is geared toward PPS families with pre-K through fifth grade students and will feature Indigenous author, poet, storyteller and performer Ed Edmo and will take place at Roosevelt High School. This workshop brings together parents, guardians, and children in a collaborative learning environment focused on enhancing literacy skills and nurturing a lifelong passion for books.
