The Bessemer Steel Process was a device created by Henry Bessemer in 1855. The Bessemer Steel Process was independently discovered by William Kelly in 1851.
What it does
The Bessemer Steel Process removes impurities from the iron by oxidation with air being blown through the molten iron. The oxidation also raises the temperature of the iron mass and keeps it in a molten state.

Henry Bessemer was born on January 19, 1813 and died on March 15, 1898. He was the inventor of the Bessemer Steel Process and was an iconic figure in the Industrial Revolution Era.
