This past weekend the girls varsity swimming and diving team had their first invite at the Lake Forest Relays. The team placed 6th overall with great performances all around. The divers got the team off to a great start where they improved from their last year’s scores and put points on the scoreboard to help the cause. The same relay also took 2nd in the 400 Free Relay. The 400 Medley Relay of Amelia Willis, Gracyn Gigiano,

It has been a busy week for MHS volleyball! Varsity went 2-3 at the Crosstown Classic Invitational defeating the teams from Grant and Evanston. The JV, Freshman A, and Freshmen B teams traveled to invitationals as well. All teams played tough, exciting volleyball. Congratulations to the Varsity and Freshman B teams on their decisive wins over the Rams! Our next home games are Tuesday, September 5 against Antioch, and Thursday, September 7 against Zion-Benton. Games are at 5:00 and 6:00pm. Come out and support Mustang Volleyball!

JV1 Boys Soccer has been playing well and taking steps forward every game. We started this extremely tough week out at the Barrington/Jacobs Invite with our first tournament WIN against a strong CLS team. Headed into very competitive GBS and Barrington teams later in the week to hopefully set up a great Saturday finish at the Invite. Enjoying wins together & playing the best programs in the area preparing us for a great conference run!

The Lady Mustang golfers competed in the D117 Harold Abrahmson Invite on Saturday, taking 10th/15 teams. Senior Kate Niemann led the way, breaking 100 for the first time in her career to tie for 21st out of 84 golfers. Juniors Olivia Williams, Audrey Smith and Noelle Dadian turned in their career 18 low scores as well.
The ladies also worked with Countryside Golf Pro Steve DiNino on Tuesday, doing video analysis of their short game swings and perfecting their wedge shots. The Mustangs play Warren on Tuesday at Countryside to kick off Homecoming Week.

Coaches Corner - Girls Cheerleading
Submitted by Coach Christina Newsom
Our Varsity cheer team traveled to Carthage College this summer to attend the NCA Speed Camp. They spent 3 days of vigorous stunting to prep them for our upcoming competitive season. While Varsity was away, our JV athletes stayed local with Camp Jeff spending 3 days learning and perfecting new stunt skills and game day chants to prepare them for both sideline and competitive season. We look forward to success thanks to these extra efforts.
