October 15th Deadline!
All 9th-grade students must submit a school physical. All 12th-grade students must submit proof of the second meningococcal vaccination. Students without these requirements will be excluded from school after October 15.

College of Lake County
The College of Lake County is pleased to once again offer an opportunity for high school students (grades 9-12) to learn about a Career Pathway through Apprenticeships. Attached are the registration form and photo release form that students need to complete in order to register for one session of the Manufacturing Career Pathways program offered by CLC on October 17-18-19. Follow this LINK for registration and photo release forms.
There are 70 slots available. Students will receive a $50 stipend. Students will need transportation to and from the session site. MHS will assist with transportation if necessary - please contact Mr. Kapotas in the CCRC.
Deadline to register is Thursday, October 6th but space is reserved on a first come-first served basis.
Students can attend only one session, but they can select a second (2) or third (3) choice in case their first choice is filled. Most sessions will have 10-15 students max since they will be in labs.
Here are the programs and dates:
- Automation, Robotics, Mechatronics (ARM) - Thursday, October 19th (Grayslake campus)
- HVAC - Tuesday, October 17th (Grayslake campus)
- Precision Machining Technology (PMT), formerly CNC - Thursday, Oct. 19th (Grayslake campus)
- Industrial Technology (INT), Wednesday, Oct 18th (Advanced Technology Center - Gurnee)
- Welding (WFT) - Thursday, Oct. 19th (Advanced Technology Center - Gurnee)
All sessions will be offered from 4:30 -5:30 PM.

Higher Orbits is a non-profit with the mission of promoting Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM); along with leadership, teamwork, and communication through the use of spaceflight. Mankind’s journey into space serves as an ideal launchpad to excite students of all ages about STEM/STEAM and working to fulfill their dreams and ambitions while also building teamwork, leadership, and communication skills.

Go For Launch delivers a multi-day, in-person, truly out of this world experience to 8th - 12th grade students leveraging spaceflight and space exploration as the launchpad for students to develop and strengthen their skills in STEM, teamwork, communication, research design, and leadership.
Go For Launch! students work side-by-side with an astronaut for the entire event -learning, growing, and developing the life-long skills that create a successful, meaningful future.
The culminating exercise is an experiment design project. The teams will present their ideas to a panel of judges from the Space & STEM fields, who will then choose a winner from each Go For Launch! event. Depending on the Series, winning experiments will be launched to and conducted aboard the International Space Station or on a suborbital flight!

Coaches Corner - Girls Volleyball

It has been a busy week for MHS volleyball! Varsity went 2-3 at the Crosstown Classic Invitational defeating the teams from Grant and Evanston. The JV, Freshman A, and Freshmen B teams traveled to invitationals as well. All teams played tough, exciting volleyball. This past Monday we had our second dual match against Grayslake Central, where all levels played competitively. Congratulations to the Varsity and Freshman B teams on their decisive wins over the Rams! Our next home games are Tuesday, September 5 against Antioch, and Thursday, September 7 against Zion-Benton. Games are at 5:00 and 6:00pm. Come out and support Mustang Volleyball!
Coaches Corner - Girls Tennis

The Varsity team went 1-1 this week by beating Grant and losing to Grayslake Central. The team is now 4-3 on the season and 22-19 in overall matches . Senior Captain Gabi Lipske is 7-0 at #1 singles and hasn’t lost a set all year.
Seniors Mikaela Sosa has 5 wins along with Junior Stella Moon has 4 and Senior Ashley Strachn 4 as well.
Our Jv program has a record 24 players this year as we will be playing JV1 and JV2 matches and invites and are 2-1 so far. Tennis excitement buzz is here at the school.
Coaches Corner - Boys Soccer

JV1 Boys Soccer has been playing well and taking steps forward every game. We started this extremely tough week out at the Barrington/Jacobs Invite with our first tournament WIN against a strong CLS team. Headed into very competitive GBS and Barrington teams later in the week to hopefully set up a great Saturday finish at the Invite. Enjoying wins together & playing the best programs in the area preparing us for a great conference run!

This season’s first Runner of the Week: FR Heydee Jarillo! Heydee is new to running but has already shown so much growth in her endurance! Heydee is dedicated, kind, supportive of others, and goes above and beyond what we ask of her!

Dress Code
Although we take great pride in a dress code that encourages self-expression, we do want to remind students of our student dress code policy as found in our student handbook.
- Clothing must cover all undergarments (waistbands and straps excluded).
- Fabric covering all private parts must not be seen through.
- Clothing that depicts, advertises or advocates the use of alcohol, tobacco, marijuana or other controlled substances is prohibited.
- Clothing that depicts pornography, nudity or sexual acts is prohibited.
Lockers
With the increased enrollment in recent years, we have been unable to provide a locker for every student at MHS. Since many students do not use a locker, we are assigning lockers to students upon request. Please click here to request a locker.
