Jazz Cabaret 2024: Congratulations to the Grade 6 musicians who knocked it out of the park at the Jazz Cabaret on Thursday evening. It was a very entertaining evening. Bravo to Mr. Becker for producing such a wonderful evening to showcase the tremendous musicianship at Selwyn House. Click here for photos from the event and a video of the full performance. ES Robotique: Lors de la compétition de robotique Zone 01 qui s'est déroulée vendredi dernier, le 3 mai au Collège Reine-Marie, Kai Mendell (5A), Steven Zhao (5A), Logan Cheng (5A), Jerry Liu (5A), Thomas Lu (5A), Ruichen Yu (5A). Liam Sarhan (6A), Abner Hu (6A), Léon Jaclot (6B) et Edi Obenaus (6B) se sont rivalisés contre des équipes d'écoles à travers Montréal. Tous ont atteint la finale de Sumo, avec l'équipe de Kai, Steven et Logan remportant la médaille de bronze. Félicitations aux garçons, dont le parcours souligne le pouvoir de dévouement et de collaboration dans la poursuite du succès. Voici une vidéo récapitulative de la compétition: Zone 01
Elementary School Play: The Elementary School play, The Jungle Book, will take place on Friday, May 10 at 7 PM. In lieu of admission, non-perishable food donations will be collected and donated to a local food bank.
Denim Day: On Tuesday, May 14 staff and students who would like to participate are invited to wear denim to support the fight against breast cancer. Students may replace one or as many uniform items as they wish with denim. If denim is not being worn, regular uniform is expected. Reminder that this is not a free dress day. We ask all students wearing denim to bring in a $2 (or more) donation. Donations will be collected by first period teachers. If you wish to donate directly to the Cure Foundation, tax receipts are issued for donations of $20 or more.
Foire du livre: C’est avec grand plaisir que nous accueillerons prochainement la foire du livre annuelle de la librairie Babar à Pointe-Claire. Les libraires seront présents à la salle de séminaire Lucas avec une bonne part de leur collection les mardi 14 et mercredi 15 mai. Tous les groupes s’y rendront avec leur enseignant de français. À votre discrétion, vous pouvez confier un peu d’argent à votre fils pour la visite ou bien passer à la fin des classes pour bouquiner. Brigitte et David seront présents jusqu’à 16 heures ces deux jours-là.

No Breakfast Service on May 16: Due to a Grade 11 event, there will be no breakfast service available on May 16.
ES March for Climate Change: On May 16 several of our Elementary School classes will take part in the Rising Voices: A Climate Call to Action March. The boys will be, with SPVM escort, marching and protesting, with their homeroom teachers, in the streets (up Argyle and along the Boulevard towards King George Park and Murray Hill) of Westmount. The boys will spend the morning outside, please make sure your son is properly dressed for whatever weather conditions may be. The classes have been preparing for this event for a few weeks. They have prepared posters, they have been talking about sustainability and climate change, they have also generally been engaged with nature.
ES Track and Field Day: Elementary School Track and Field Day on Friday, May 17 (half day). The event will start at approximately 9am at WAG field (Westmount Athletic Ground behind Westmount High school). Regular morning drop-off at the school. Students are required to wear SHS phys. ed. uniform with their house t-shirt, running shoes, sunscreen, water bottle and a hat. Dismissal at approximately 11:30 in the Old Boys’ (East) Yard (K-2) and at 11:45 in the Guzzo Family (West) Yard (3-6). All are welcome. Please note that public parking is not available in the Westmount High School parking lot. In the case of inclement weather, adjustments will be made and parents will be notified.
End of the year Celebrations ~ Kindergarten End of the Year Celebration, Grades 1 to 5 School Closing & Concert and Grade 6 Graduation: These events have been a tradition the elementary school has had for many decades. Although the overall look and feel of the events may be different, the tradition continues. Please join us to celebrate our boys and another year coming to an end. Please see the Upcoming Events section above for dates and times.
Gryphon Sale News: Join us for the Spring Gryphon Sale next Wednesday, May 15 from 7 to 11 am in the Rossy Agora.
NEW Argyle Shop Hours: Effective May 21 until the end of the school year, the store hours will be as follows: Monday & Tuesday from 7:30 to 11:00 am; Wednesday & Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 pm; and Friday the shop is closed. No appointment necessary. Please note that the store will be closed from Tuesday, June 11 to Thursday, June 13.

Valley of the Birdtail Book Club Event - one month away: On Tuesday, June 4, the authors of Valley of the Birdtail: an Indian Reserve, a White Town, and the Road to Reconciliation, will be at Selwyn House to discuss their award-winning book. It is co-authored by Andrew Stobo Sniderman, Class of 2001, and Douglas Sanderson (Amo Binashii). If you would like a copy of the book, there are a limited number available at reception for $20 cash.
