Dear RMS Families-
Dear, RMS Families-
I hope you all had a wonderful holiday break. I can't believe it, but we have entered into 2024. I'm excited about the possibilities for our school community events. We finished 2023 with an all-school assembly featuring the RMS Band and Chorus. In January we will have an all-school Crab Soccer tournament, and in February will be holding a staff versus student basketball game. These great events will eventually lead to our awesome Olympics in April!
Students are starting to work on NWEA winter assessments, and 8th Grade students continue to learn about the pathway of the Richard W. Creteau Technology Center by visiting the facility in January. 8th graders will begin coordinating potential high school schedules for next year in February.
We have no school on Monday, January 15th in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. In addition, the Teacher Workshop on Monday, January 22nd was moved to Tuesday, January 23rd. Students will not have school on January 23rd.
This is a reminder that you can access important school information on the website (https://www.rochesterschools.com/o/rms) and our X and Facebook pages.
Notes from the nursing office đź“‹
This serves a friendly reminder that after vacation and sleepovers is a good time to be checking your students' heads for head lice. Sleepovers are the number one way head lice is transmitted. It is recommended that families perform head checks weekly. If you require assistance with treatment options, please feel free to reach out to the school nurses.
Once we return from vacation, we will be sending reminder letters to parents regarding the need for all 7th grade students to have a Tdap vaccine. This is required per NH Department of Education and DHHS. If you receive a letter from us, we need documentation showing proof of this vaccine. Proof can be faxed directly to the RMS nursing office at 603-332-4800 or email a copy of the proof to either Stephanie McSharry mcsharry.s@sau54.org or Cori Brown at brown.c@sau54.org.
The names of any eighth-grade student that has not shown proof of this vaccination after being notified via mail during their 7th grade year will be given to the Superintendent for exclusion from school.
