Marlow Monday Message

Good Evening, Marlow Families!!
I hope this message finds you safe and in good health following the recent storm and flooding that has impacted our community. The past few days/weeks have been challenging for all of us, and I want to acknowledge the resilience, strength, and compassion that I’ve witnessed among our school community during this difficult time.
First and foremost, our thoughts are with those who have been most affected by the storm. Many of our families, staff members, and neighbors are dealing with the aftermath of flooding, property damage, and other significant hardships. Please know that we stand with you, and we are here to offer support in any way we can.
As we begin the process of recovery, I want to provide some important updates:
Glenn Marlow Elementary School: Our school and our campus is in very good shape. The building has power, water (on a Boil-water Advisory), and internet access. However, as of this evening, our phone services are down. The inside of the building sustained very little damage in the storm. A BIG MARLOW SHOUT-OUT to the parent (and student) volunteers who came out on Saturday morning to do some clean-up around the outside of campus, especially back by the 3-5 playground and path leading up to the upper field and track. THANK YOU!
School Operations: Our top priority is ensuring that our school buildings are safe, clean, and fully functional before we welcome students and staff back. As Mr. Garrett stated in his phone message last week, our goal is reopen schools the week of October 14th. Once a final decision is made, we will inform our families of the exact date HCPS will bring back students. We will communicate with you on the activities and events (i.e. Picture Day) updated schedule when it becomes available.
Support for Families: We understand that many families may be dealing with difficult circumstances at this time. If you need assistance—whether it’s finding temporary housing, accessing food or supplies, or other forms of support—please reach out to our school’s administrative team. We are working with local organizations and relief efforts to connect families with the resources they need.
Mental Health and Well-Being: It’s important to recognize the emotional impact of events like this. Please take care of yourselves and your loved ones, and do not hesitate to reach out if there is anything you need. School may be closed to students for now, but we are always open for supporting our Marlow Family any way possible.
We will get through this together. Marlow Elementary has always been more than just a building— we are a community. We are family. And in times like these, we show the true meaning of community by supporting one another. Please stay safe, and look out for each other. We will continue to provide updates as we move forward.
With care and solidarity,
John
