THIRD GRADE:
Digital Citizenship (CSM)
Summary:
In this week’s lesson, your child will understand that it is important to think about the words we use, because everyone interprets things differently. They will identify ways to respond to the mean words online using S-T-O-P and will learn how to decide what kinds of statements are OK to say online and which are not.
Try This at Home:
Discuss with your child how they would use the S-T-O-P method if someone online was using mean words. Discuss with your child how words can be misinterpreted when said online and the importance of always using nice words.
FOURTH GRADE:
Zones of Regulation
Summary:
n this week’s lesson, your child will learn how to name their feelings and fit them into categories or zones with other feelings that are similar.
Try This at Home:
Ask your child to share with you about the four Zones of Regulation (Red, Blue, Green, & Yellow) and which is the best to be in for learning (Green). Have your child describe what being in the Green Zone looks and feels like to them.

Conversation Starters
How to Talk About Diversity:
Children notice race from an early age. They also notice and can understand injustices among people. But research indicates that not all parents and caregivers discuss race, identity, and racism with young children.1
Embracing diversity and acceptance allows kids to absorb their world with curiosity, self-assurance, and kindness. It helps them learn to identify with individuals who are different from them. It also teaches empathy and compassion for others.
Learning and discussing different cultures, values, and races teaches your child that it is OK to notice differences, and more importantly, it teaches them that it's good to talk about them.
PTO Staff Appreciation: Caramel and Snack Oh My!!!
Fall is in the air and the PTO Staff Appreciation Committee is excited to provide our incredible staff with a Caramel Apple Bar, as well as stocking their lounge with everyday snacks. Lets fuel them up and share support as they wrap up this beautiful October! Please see the link below for ways to make this event a success. Thank you in advance for all the donations. We couldn't do this without all of our wonderful families at FCE!

Carrie was extremely passionate about her family, friends, teammates and her teachers and coaches. She took a great deal of pride in being a Royal.
Workday is Saturday, November 9, 2024.
Thank you!
HSE Wrestling Club
HSE Wrestling club offers an introduction to the sport of wrestling for our Pre-K-6th grade athletes with a goal of getting them to try and fall in love with the sport and become Royal Wrestlers in the future. We offer Beginner’s Classes for our younger athletes and a longer class for our older ones. We meet Mondays and Thursdays at HSE High School in the wrestling room and practice from After Fall Break to the first week of March. More information can be found at www.hsewrestlingclub.com and you can register from there as well. You can also email Coach Brobst at nbrobst@hse.k12.in.us
R.A.V.E. Reviews are Back!
Do you know of an HSE staff member who deserves a shoutout? Someone who consistently goes above and beyond to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
Give them a R.A.V.E. Review and share your appreciation! It’s simple to do - just complete a quick online form here: hseschools.org/rave. You can send as many reviews as you’d like throughout the school year.
R.A.V.E. stands for Recognizing All Valuable Employees, and it’s our way of celebrating the incredible staff who make Hamilton Southeastern Schools a fantastic place to learn and grow.
Parent Volunteers & Safe Visitor Background Checks
If you are planning to visit or volunteer at FCE this year during school hours, you will need a Safe Visitor Background Check. There will be several opportunities for parent volunteers here at FCE, including FIELD TRIPS, FIELD DAY, etc. In order to volunteer at a school event during school hours (or attend a PTO meeting during school hours), you must have a current SafeVisitor background check on file. In order to obtain your Safe Visitor pass, please click on the link below and follow the directions. Please keep in mind it sometimes takes a few weeks to process, so be sure you give yourself plenty of time!
Present for Success
At Hamilton Southeastern Schools, our primary goal is to ensure every student receives a high-quality education, but we can't do it alone. Frequent absences hinder academic progress, adding stress for students, families, and teachers. That’s why we’re asking families to partner with us in ensuring regular attendance, so together, we can support every student’s academic success.
