It was a very productive week here at Hillview! On Monday, the HSA will host their first general meeting of the year for parents/guardians. The meeting will take place in the APR and begin at 7:00 P.M. Come learn more about how the HSA enhances the student experience and ways to get involved. We are looking forward to seeing you then!

News from the Nurse

Fall Allergy Season is here! Yep- It's not just a Spring thing. The most common culprit for fall allergies is ragweed, a plant that grows wild almost everywhere! Ragweed blooms and releases pollen from August to November. Common ragweed allergy symptoms include: Nasal congestion, Runny nose with watery discharge, Postnasal drip, Sneezing, Coughing, Eye swelling, Hives on the skin.

How can you minimize the impact of symptoms during ragweed season?

Limit time outside when pollen counts are high. If you do go out, wash your hands and face after being outdoors.
Take your allergy and/or asthma medicine as prescribed by your healthcare provider.
Keep windows closed during pollen season.
Avoid touching your eyes.
Keep windows and doors shut at your home; close the windows of your car while driving.
Shower after being outside to remove pollen from your skin and hair.
Dry laundry indoors rather than on a clothesline outdoors.

Bike and Parking Lot Safety

If you or your child bikes to/from school in the morning, when you are on the sidewalks on school property, please walk your bike to the rack. Riding bikes on crowded sidewalks presents a safety hazard.

If you utilize the car line in the rear of the school, once your child exits your vehicle, please follow the arrows to the END of the parking lot and make the u-turn to exit. Crossing over parking spots is dangerous, as people are parking and walking children to doors. Our security team is always present and will direct you.

Water Bottles

We encourage all students to bring water bottles to school everyday that can be refilled at the water filling stations. Please do no send hot beverages, iced tea and sugary drinks in open top containers to keep on your child's desk. Juice boxes, pouches, Gatorade, and other types of drinks that fit inside lunch boxes are fine for snack and lunch time. Thank you!
