Principal's Message
👋 Dear Booth Hill Families,
As we wrap up our first full week of school, I am thrilled to share that our students are already embracing the values of respect and responsibility. In just a short time, they have shown remarkable growth in their ability to navigate the school environment, demonstrating kindness in the hallways, practicing good manners during lunch, and collaborating beautifully with their peers.
As always, we wish you a wonderful weekend with family and friends. Please read below for all the important dates, recognitions and events.
Best,
Mr. Chase
Student Spotlight
Each morning our 5th grade students lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance, the ROARS Pledge, and announcing the birthdays for the day. They always do such a fabulous job!
School Attendance
As a school community, we continually strive to promote regular attendance at Booth Hill. We welcome and appreciate open communication between school and home; therefore, please reach out if you need assistance with getting your child to school each day and in a timely fashion. Parent and school partnerships enable us to best support our students to ensure success at school.
"Chronically absent is defined as "a child who accumulated a total number of absences at any time during the school year that is equal to or greater than ten percent (10%) of the total number of days that such student has been enrolled at the school during the school year."
Please refer to board policy 5113.1 on our website for more information. https://www.trumbullps.org/board-of-education/policy
As always, thank you for your support.
Advancing to Structured Literacy
We’d like to inform you of a revision in our assessment practices for elementary students. After a thorough and careful review and several years of research, we have decided to discontinue using the F&P benchmark assessment. This decision was made to streamline our assessment procedures and ensure that we are using the most effective tools to measure student progress.
Last year, we adopted the DIBELS assessment, which provides valuable insights into students' reading skills in grades K-3. Research has shown that DIBELS is a reliable and efficient tool, and it aligns well with our instructional goals.
At fall conferences, teachers will share the assessment information that pertains to your child.
Assessments
Beginning Monday, students in Grades K - 3 will begin our districtwide DIBELS testing. DIBELS is a universal screener that assesses the acquisition of foundational literacy skills.

Safety Matters
TPS Transportation Regulations
For the safety of our students and to avoid any overcrowding issues, students should only ride the bus they are assigned to unless issued an exception by the transportation department. Drivers are instructed not to admit any student to their bus that is not assigned or has not been given an exception from Transportation. Exceptions should be for child care reasons or emergencies and not used for playdates. Using a school bus for anything other than home to school transportation is prohibited.
Pick Up
IMPORTANT REMINDER FOR PICK-UP LINE:
- Place a sign with your last name clearly written on on it either on the passenger window or passenger windshield side of your car. The sign should be visible to our staff working the pick-up line.
- Please DO NOT turn left into the line. If there is already a line formed, proceed to Blue Ridge Drive where you will be able to turnaround and join the end of the line since it is a cul-de-sac. Please make every attempt to get into the line by 3:20.

Submissions must be uploaded by 11:59 p.m. on November 4. There is no cost to enter. For program details, rules and the entry process, visit: www.chetdreambig.com
