What to Expect:
Day 1: Adventures in Coding with Tynker!
Course Description:
Get ready to start thinking like a coder! Discover the essentials of coding and game design, in a fun, organic way, while building confidence and critical-thinking skills! Using Tynker, and it's step-by-step, interactive approach, kids will create games using variables, and conditional statements. See how much your child has learned at our end of the week, student showcase!
What will students take home?
Students attending this programming course will go home with Tynker accounts that make their games available on the web, iOS, and Android devices. Students will also leave with the knowledge and understanding to create their own games independently using Tynker.
Day 2: Minecraft 3D Game Design
Accelerate your Minecraft game-creation skills! In this fun Minecraft course, kids have to think creatively to design and build new structures. Using the popular video game platform, students design adventure maps, enhanced by command logs, and Redstone. See how much your child has learned at our end-of-the-week student showcase!
What will students take home?
Students in these Minecraft classes will take home their Minecraft saves, resource packs, and mod folders.
Day 3: Robotic and Engineering with VEX
Team up, design, and build! Are you up for the challenge? In this hands-on engineering course, students collaborate to overcome a series of robotics challenges, all while learning about instructional integrity, gear-ratios, and sensors along the way! Teams build a base using the VEX robotics design system.
See how much your child has learned at our end-of-the-week, Student Showcase!
What Will Students Take Home?
Students in these summer camps with VEX will take home video footage of the week's robotics challenges, in order to recap how well their robots navigated courses, moved obstacles, and reacted to sensor input.
Day 4: 3D Printing with Autodesk 123D Designs
Turn the object of your imagination into a reality using 3D printing! Students will discover the essentials of modeling and design and then watch their creations come to life on a Dremel 3D printer! With Autodesk 123D design, and its' easy-to-use interface, students learn how to design 3D objects, and prepare them for printing. Then, they observe the print process, and watch as their creations become a reality!
What Will Students Take Home?
Students will go home with a copy of their 123D Design files and one 3D printed model, printed on the Dremel 3D Idea Builder.
Day 5: Student Showcase
From 8:00 AM - 10:00 AM:
Students will prepare their presentations, for the Student Showcase.
See all that your child has accomplished in the above courses at our Student Showcase! During this time, students will have the option to show their families all that they have learned and created during their time at S.T.E.M. Camp!
