Principal's Message
Good afternoon,
This week we took time to honor our 8th graders - their hard work and dedication has been commendable. We wish them the best as we look ahead to the bright futures that await them - the doors that will be opening for them past EHMS. Each student here has shown incredible potential, and it is with great pride that we celebrate their accomplishments.

Positive Office Referrals
Below are students who received Positive Office Referrals for their behaviors that have shown our PBIS pillars of Respect, Responsibility, Compassion and Pride. Students were able to choose a reward from our menu of options like eating outside with friends, prizes or their favorite snack! Great job! Our students celebrated this week are:
8th Graders
Kayla Rau and Eliana Kiernan
Students had a great time in Québec despite hours of walking around the city last week. They spoke the language and immersed themselves in the culture of the city. Some favorite things the students noted were the Copper museum, the Huron site and the bacon at breakfast. Madame Michalak and Mrs. Asklar would like to give a huge shoutout to all the students who participated for their excellent behavior, their curiosity during tours and their willingness to try something new. We would also like to thank the parent chaperones Kyle Martin, Narcissa Matte, Joshua Pont, Daniel Finn and Karen Wanat. We can’t wait to do it again in 2026!
7th graders had their field day celebration today! It was a hot day but students enjoyed various activities throughout the day including ending with their yearbooks. 6th graders will have their field day celebration and yearbooks on Monday!
Monday was Ms. Seeley’s 8th Grade Food Truck Festival! For their final project in the contemporary literature unit, students were asked to design a food truck to fit the literary elements of their novels. Students designed a digital food truck with explanations and rationalizations for how their choices fit the characters, setting, themes, issues, and symbols of their novels. Some students even brought food to share and celebrate their final reading unit!
Our 6th and 7th graders had their summer math and reading assemblies. Mrs. Lewis and Mrs. Gartska exampled all the opportunities students have to continue their practice in both reading and math! Our 8th graders will have their presentation next week.

Rookie of Year!
Congratulations to our own Rookie of the Year - Mrs. Dash! Mrs. Dash was honored for all the great work she has done this year to support her students.
Our 8th graders were honored and recognized at this year's Step-Up ceremony. They also had a wonderful time at last night's dance. Thank you to the staff and advisors who helped support and make the night special for our students.

Important Attendance Reminder
A phone call does not excuse an absence..
A phone call is appreciated, but only an email to our attendance inbox or written note can officially excuse absence 1 through 9. Below is our attendance email:
Note: Between the school name and the word Attendance is a underscore ( _ )
EHMS_Attendance@easthamptonct.org
If a student has four unexcused absences in one month or 10 unexcused absences in a year they are classified as truant. If a child misses 18 or more days in a school year – excused or unexcused absences – the student is classified as chronically absent.

Message from the Health Office
If your child has any medication in the nurse’s office from this school year, it must be picked up by a parent by June 13th. Any medication that is not picked up by this date will be discarded. Please note that students are not allowed to bring their medication home on the bus (unless they have self-carry privileges approved by their physician).
Medications for Next Year
According to Connecticut Regulations Section 10-212a through 10-212a-7 and CGS Section 10-212a, a physician’s written and signed order for medication must be renewed every year. It must be signed by your child’s doctor and by a parent/guardian. If your child needs a medication at school, please utilize the medication authorization form found on our website www.easthamptonps.org. Please note that if your child can “self-carry” their medication, there is a place for both parent and doctor to sign at the bottom of the form. Medications must be brought to school in their original container.
In accordance with guidelines of the State of Connecticut General Statutes, the East Hampton Board of Education requires that a formal health assessment with grade appropriate immunizations be done while a student is in grade 6. Follow the link to the Parentsquare with further details.

School Based Health
Happy New Year! Did you resolve to be more on top of your and your child’s health this year? Here’s an easy solution: Sign your child up for School-Based Health Care. Your child’s school works with Community Health Center, Inc.’s School-Based Health Care program to provide health services to your child during the school day. This means they won’t miss as much class and you don’t need to miss work to support their health care needs.
