From the Principal
As the crisp winter air sets in, December is a time of reflection and gratitude. This month, we’re excited to celebrate the holidays and focus on themes of kindness, sharing, and community. Let’s make the most of this season together! We want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who participated in last month's Penny Wars! Your generosity and enthusiasm have made a big difference. It was wonderful to see the school community come together for such a fun and meaningful cause. The friendly competition between grades brought lots of excitement, and together we raised funds to support families during the holidays. Thank you to our executive board of Student Council for taking time at the board meeting to talk about our school. Lastly, thank you to all of the students who raised enough money to turn me into a taco salad. It was definitely a first for me.
Greg Burton, Principal
Big Bend Elementary

Unsure When There Is No School?
A Note From Mrs. Schroeder
Greetings BBES Parents!
Our 5th-6th grade winter concert is coming up fast! Here is some information about our concert:
1. Place: Thursday, December 19th at the Greenwald Foundation Performing Arts Center. Make sure to put this date in your calendar! *Different this year: There will not be a daytime school concert at BBES. There will be enough seating for everyone to come support our students at our evening concert at our beautiful PAC at Mukwonago High School!
2. Time: Our concert will start at 6:30pm. The concert should be around 30 minutes in duration. All 5th & 6th grade students should plan on being at the PAC at 6:00pm the evening of Thursday, 12/19. No earlier, please. Please drop your child off at Door 11 (east entrance to Mukwonago High School, marked “performer entrance”)
3. Attendance: This concert is a required school performance for all 5th and 6th graders. Please send Mrs. Schroeder an email if you will be out of town on a pre-planned family vacation, or if your child is out ill that school day and cannot physically be there. schrobr@masd.k12.wi.us
4. Dress Rehearsal and Permission Slip information: Our dress rehearsal at the PAC with the 5th & 6th graders will be 8:40-10:45 the morning of 12/19. If possible, please refrain from scheduling any appointments during this time. Students will be given a paper copy of our permission slip the first week of December, due on Monday, December 16th. I will also send a digital copy that week as well, in case your child misplaces his or her permission slip.
5. Concert dress: Students should feel free to dress their best for our performance the evening of 12/19. This is the time to "get fancy!" Dresses, dress shoes, dress pants, collared shirts are all appropriate. Students should refrain from wearing hats, sunglasses, ripped jeans, or light-up apparel. If no dressy holiday outfit is available, please have your child come wearing the festive colors of red and green.
6. Preparation: Students should be practicing singing their concert pieces at home with the lyrics sheets provided in music class. They may also want to check their Concert Google Classroom for backtracks to practice along with too. Dedicating 5-10 minutes per night to practice their concert songs will make a big difference in the level of our performance on the 19th!
Looking forward to a wonderful holiday concert experience with our 5th & 6th graders See you on December 19th!

Check out the Holiday Shoppe flier in this month's newsletter for more info about this fun event. There will also be a paper copy in your child’s folder after Thanksgiving break. The shop is a fun way for your kids to shop independently for their loved ones at a low cost. This is not a fundraiser. All money is used to purchase items for next year’s shop. Thank you in advance to everyone who has already signed up to help our shoppe run smoothly.
We hope you enjoyed your Elegant Farmer items. Thank you Megan N. and Amanda K. for organizing!
We truly appreciate all of our parents and grandparents who volunteer their time or donate items to our PTO events. We know that our PTO would not be as successful without the support of our BBES families. We are thankful for you!!
We are also appreciative of all of the grandparents and special guests that attended lunch and stopped at the book fair. The book fair was a huge success and ALL profits earned go directly back to supporting our library. Stay tuned as we look to set a date for parent/VIP lunch & bookfair this spring.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED for our upcoming events. Please sign up if you can help. THANKS!!
