The Wayne-Westland Wrap Up - October 31, 2024
Dear Wayne-Westland Families,
As we progress further into the school year, I’m excited to share some positive updates from across the district. First and foremost, I’m proud to report that our district budget remains in a healthy position. This stability allows us to maintain our focus on our top priority—supporting our students and staff and helping them succeed in the classroom.
It has been great to see the excitement around Halloween activities, fall concerts, and athletic events that so many of our students and families enjoy. The amazing turnout and enthusiasm really show the strong sense of community that makes our district such a special place.
We have recently launched our Community and Coffee events, which are designed to engage our families, community members, and staff in meaningful discussions about district updates and upcoming initiatives. Our next event is scheduled for November 7, and we hope to see many of you there.
To stay connected, please follow us on social media and subscribe to our district calendar so you don’t miss out on any upcoming events or important news. Together, we are building a bright future for all of our students.
Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Curry
Interim Superintendent
Spook-tacular Fun at Trunk or Treat Event

Why Completing the Education Benefits Form Matters for Your Family and School
Wayne-Westland Community Schools is proud to continue participating in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) for the 2024-2025 school year as part of the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs. This ensures that ALL enrolled students receive a healthy breakfast and lunch at NO CHARGE to your household!
To help us maintain this program, we ask parents and guardians to complete and sign the Education Benefits Form (available on the Meal Magic Family Portal) and return it to your child's school as soon as possible.
Families should complete their Education Benefits Form because it directly impacts both the school and the family in several ways:
School Funding: Completing the form helps schools receive vital state and federal funding for programs and resources that benefit all students, including classroom supplies, educational programs, and additional staffing.
Meal Program Eligibility: The form determines eligibility for free or reduced-price meals, which can help families save on school meal costs.
Discounts and Benefits: Eligible families may qualify for additional benefits like reduced fees for sports programs, testing, and even internet services.
No Risk, Only Benefits: Even if families don't think they qualify, submitting the form ensures the school can access the maximum available resources for the entire student body.
Encouraging all families to complete the form ensures that schools can continue providing quality education and support to all students. For any questions or assistance, contact our Food Services Department at 734-419-2118.

Preschool Opportunities in Wayne-Westland
Sunshine and Rainbows Preschool
The Sunshine and Rainbows preschool program is now accepting applications for the 2024-25 school year.
Sunshine and Rainbows is the preschool component of the Future Educators class at the William D. Ford Career Technical Center. The program is a training site for high school students interested in a career in education or child care. The preschool curriculum encourages freedom, friendliness, and creativity, while keeping adult involvement at a level that supports, but doesn’t hinder, a child’s growing independence.
Classes meet three days a week from October through May.
