Week of May 13th
Principal Message
STAAR week is upon us and many of us, this is the week we have been waiting for, quite some time. We also have scholars who are retesting for the second time, many so close to reaching met standard for STAAR. It is an important day that we want to treat with the importance and level of high stakes that is required and also know that we as adults sets the tone and influences how the day begins and ends.
As we always do, our test environment is second to none. Take a moment to review Mrs. Crabtree's emails, testing procedures, adn review your manual. Aside from our own preparedness to execute the role as test administrator, monitor, or support to the whole process, our MINDSET IS KEY.
As a reminder, however our scholars come to school, we are to own the TONE we SET, Convey POSITIVITY in our LANGUAGE, both verbal and non verbal.
It is a full week and testing is tiring, please get plenty of rest and ensure we all own our 20 Square Feet, our scholars are depending on us to do that so that they can go out there and do their absolute very best!
Thank you in advance to everyone for their commitment to excellence, professionalism, and awesome attitudes!! Thank you once again to our AWESOME Test Coordinator for always ensuring we are Flagship Testing!!
Kindest Regards,
Ms. Taylor
Proudest Principal in DISD

Instructional Highlight- ELAR Sixth Grade
The 6th Grade RLA team was rocking and rolling! Lessons were crafted based on scholars differentiated needs. Each group had a purpose and a learning target. Even just the set up on the rooms and student grouping lent itself to differentiated teaching and learning. It was great to see scholars engaged in many attempts at practicing the targeted SE and receiving feedback from teachers in a timely manner. The support was scaffolded and scholars were invested in their growth. Scholars knew how they were progressing through the weeks lesson.
Major kudos to the planning and intentionality of the team with all of their scholar groups. Whether the focus was on scholars who they were trying to move from unsatisfactory to approaches, or meets to masters, growth and progress were the focus.
