A Message From Mr. Lynch
We’ve just finished another great winter week here at school, and the holiday excitement is definitely in the air! While we’re all looking forward to the upcoming break, we’re staying focused and making the most of these last few weeks together.
Next week is packed with exciting events! We can’t wait for our 4th and 5th Grade Concert and Art Show, where our talented students will showcase their creativity and hard work. Kindergarteners are eagerly anticipating the magic of Polar Express Day, a tradition that always brings smiles and holiday cheer. And, of course, we’ll end the week with our fan-favorite Elf Yourself Day on Friday—a school-wide celebration that never fails to bring joy and laughter.
Thank you for your continued support and for sharing in the joy of this special season with us. Stay warm, and let’s make these weeks leading up to the holidays memorable!
Counselors Corner
Hello Field Families!
This year we have been working as a community to develop our mindfulness skills! Using mindfulness is a great way to help with anxiety. Mindfulness can help calm anxious feelings, help students think through problems and also help them stay focused on what is important. Mindfulness is living in the here and now, focusing on what is right in front of you. Using different techniques, like coping skills, can help bring kids and really anyone to the moment they are in. Using your senses is a great one. Practice mindfulness by asking your students to use their senses when you are together. Point out 5 things you can see right now, what are 4 things you can feel right now, what are 3 things you can hear right now, what are 2 things you can smell right now and what is 1 thing you can taste! This simple but fun activity is a great way to start building mindfulness!

PBIS
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a proactive approach designed to foster a positive school climate by encouraging appropriate behavior. It focuses on teaching and reinforcing clear behavioral expectations in a consistent and structured way. PBIS emphasizes prevention rather than punishment, using data to identify and support students who may need additional help. By recognizing and rewarding positive behavior, PBIS aims to improve student engagement, reduce disciplinary issues, and create a more inclusive, respectful learning environment where all students can thrive academically and socially.
At Brimfield Elementary, students help to identify positive expectations and receive incentives for appropriate behavior. Your child may be chosen to participate in the Principal’s Club, receive a red SOAR ticket, or earn a Principal’s Good News call. The staff at Brimfield works hard to use positive words with students. Instead of telling a child to “stop running” in the hallway, the direction might be to “move throughout the halls in a controlled and safe manner”. Thank you, in advance, for partnering with us and using positive statements with your child. We are very proud of our PBIS program and look forward to celebrating the great behavior of our young Falcons!
