Superintendent Remarks
Mr. Willson reviewed budget information. "The school district sets the mill levy, which is the property tax rate for our constituents. Last year, we submitted a tax rate of 51.62 mills," said Willson. "This year we are proposing a tax rate that is 51.466 mills, which is slightly lower." Mr. Willson explained that the school district does not control the assessed valuation. He also explained how a district's proposed budgets and actual expenditures are not the same. "Almost every year, we are anywhere from $10 million to $7 million difference in those two numbers," said Willson. So if you actually took the district's actual expenditures last year and compared it to the amount of our budget estimate for this year, that's actually a 3.1% increase, which is a smaller increase than most people's assessed valuation went up."
RNR & Budget
The board held the FY25 RNR Hearing and FY25 Budget Hearing. The following action was taken.
