On Saturday night, our school was transformed into a wonderland for the 8th grade celebration. It was an awesome evening for our 8th graders.
This week, we are celebrating Staff Appreciation Week. Thank you for all who have shown their appreciation for our staff through donating their time and talents.
We have a big week in soccer and tennis this week!!

Art News!
Congratulations to Titan artist who participated in the District Spring Art show competing with students from across the district.
Tays’ artists totaled 9 blue ribbons, 2 red ribbons, and 1 white.
And Tays’ artist won the following distinctions:
7th grader Teja Tahkku won Junior High 3D Best of Show
7th grader Ritheesha Pathi won Junior High 2D Judges Choice
8th grader Anvita Vemuri won High School 3D Judges Choice.

This past weekend, 31 Art students competed in our state UIL art event (2 of the 31, brought a second art piece to the event giving us 33 entries). There was over 1,100 entries and our 6th to 8th grade student’s dominant bringing home a combined 43 medals! Out of our 33 entries students, 31 pieces of art received a rating of 4 (medaling). And 10 students got an extra distinction getting a rating of 5 and received an additional medal: Platinum, for being considered as a top regional piece.

8th graders: Zoe Damasco, Johnny Hsuan, Brianna Lin, Sofia Lopez-Navarro, Anvita Vemuri, Emmy Zhang, and Leo Zou

By May 5th, the parent(s)/guardian(s) of students that will be recognized will be contacted by teachers and staff. Below you will find a description of the awards being recognized.
Titan Academic Awards
Tays Award of Academic Excellence- The Tays Award of Academic Excellence is given to students who have earned All A’s on their report cards for the 1st through 5th sixth weeks. This is the highest Scholastic Award that a student can receive at our school. These students are being honored for their commitment to the pursuit of academic excellence.
Content Awards- Teachers have selected their students based on criteria such as academic achievement, classroom contributions, and exemplary behavior. These students have consistently exhibited on a daily basis the characteristics that honor the legacy of James & Sharon Tays.
Titan Power Award- The Titan POWER Award goes to those students who have made a significant difference at Tays Junior High through the positive interaction with others, talents, leadership and achievement. The faculty was asked to nominate students who exemplified the qualities of perseverance, ownership, wisdom, excellence and respect.
Titan Ambassador Award- The Titan Ambassador Award is presented to students who have shown a compassionate attitude towards all students here at Tays Junior High. They possess strength of character and the courage to do what is right even when it is not an easy choice.
Remember that we recognize our Honor Roll each six weeks.

HEALTH SERVICES
All students enrolled in Katy ISD must be in compliance with state-required immunizations. Immunization requirements can be found on the Katy ISD Health Services Immunizations page.
Texas Vaccine Institute will be offering the following dates and times for any student enrolled in Katy ISD, insured or uninsured, to receive the necessary immunizations for school entry:
DATES: May 4, 2023
TIMES: 2:00PM – 5:00PM
LOCATION: 6301 S. Stadium Lane, Katy, 77494
COST: $15 for one immunization; $25 for two; $30 for three or more (Accepting credit/debit cards or cash)
BRING: Shot record and insurance card if you have insurance
For additional information, you may contact the Health Services Department at 281-396-2629.
ATTN 6th grade parents: All immunization due letters were sent out via email before Christmas Break. Please send your student’s updated immunizations as soon as you get them. 😊
Tdap and MCV (meningococcal) vaccines are required for entry into 7th grade. Vaccines must be received before the first day of school.
The next immunization clinic is May 4th.
