Back to School Q & A
Updates for the 2024-2025 Year
As we prepare for an exciting year, I wanted to share some important updates for the new school year:
a. Aligned Class Times: The Horizons class schedule now aligns more with the SJC class schedule. We will still start each day at 8:00 AM. (see specific schedule below)
b. Senior High School Classes moved to first periods of the day: To help make Fridayβs more efficient for 12th grade students, we have moved the majority of 12th grade high school classes to the first periods of the day. This will eliminate the 3 hour senior sessions on Fridays. Students will just follow their class schedule on Fridays. As the year moves on we will introduce supports, interventions and extensions for seniors on Fridays.
c. Senior Advisories: This year our senior class will be divided into four advisory classes. With over 100 students in the senior class we want to ensure students have the supports and structures in place for a successful senior year.
d. Communication: Late last year we were able to put classroom phones in each high school classroom. This allows us to phone a classroom to notify when a student is being checked out, or get a message to a student/teacher. Please call our office at 281-929-4657 if you need to get a message to your student in a high school class.
e. Electronic Devices: To help clarify expectations, high school teachers will be utilizing red and green signs to communicate when it is and is not appropriate to use electronic devices in the classroom. All teachers will be using the same communication and procedure. Students will be asked to turn in their electronic device before leaving the classroom for the restroom during class time. We encourage students to use the restroom during the 10-minute passing periods.
f. Early Release Permission for 11th/12th grade: Due to the unique nature of Clear Horizons ECHS, there may be times when students are released early. Any student leaving campus before the normal dismissal time must sign out in the front office.
11th/12th grade students will be dismissed early for the following reasons:
- College classes are not in session, and there are no other high school classes on the student schedule.
- College classes dismiss early, and there are no other high school classes on the student schedule.
Due to our unique circumstances, parents/guardians can grant permission for the student to leave campus during an early dismissal. Students will only be dismissed early if they meet the above requirements AND have a signed permission form from a parent/guardian. (attached is a permission form or students can pick up a hard copy on Wednesday)

π Parking Lot Update for 2024-2025 π
Lot 9b is Now Open!
We are excited to start the year with our newly remodeled parking lot! Here are some key points regarding parking at Clear Horizons.
- The handicap accessible parking has been moved to the NE corner of the lot.
- The last row, near the city bus stop is all reserved. Students/parents should not park in reserved spots.
- Two 15 minute spots are available near the Clear Horizons front office to assist with parents who need to sign out students.
- The new bus lane extends along the entire building and is marked. Parents/Students should avoid the bus lane at all times.
Students who plan to drive and park will have to register with both San Jac and Clear Horizons. SJC parking permits can be obtained in the business windows located in building 6. When a student receives the San Jac permit, they should then register with Ms. Rivera in the Clear Horizons front office.
