Madison Weekly Update to Families
Week of April 15th
Message from Mrs. Terminelli
Madison Owl Families,
The third marking period wrapped up last week and report cards will be going home on Friday. We will have an early dismissal on Thursday to provide time for parent-teacher conferences. If you would like to meet with your child's teacher, reach out to them prior to Thursday so they can get you into their schedules.
Outstanding Owls will be celebrated on Thursday morning. Grades PK-2 will start at 9:15 and grades 3-6 will begin at 10:15. Families have already been contacted by teachers if their children are being recognized. Please don't arrive any earlier than 9:00 for the primary ceremony and 10:00 for the second one. All visitors MUST sign in and get a visitor badge at the office prior to attending the ceremonies.
Below you'll see some important news and notes. Please click on any of the images and links below to see the attachments or websites!
Looking forward to next week!

NEWS & NOTES
Jared Campbell Original Song for MCSD
Earlier this year Jared Campbell visited our district to share his message of overcoming obstacles, anti-bullying, respect, leadership and having an amazing outlook on life. We were so amazed by his music, that we asked his to write a song just for us. After surveying students and staff, Jared has written and published the song We Are Massena just for us. We hope you find it as catchy as I do! Click below to enjoy!

PURPOSE
This week our school community will be focusing on the character strength of Purpose. Purpose means you have beliefs about the meaning of life and your life’s purpose. You seek to be part of something greater than yourself.
Purpose gives individuals the sense that they are put on this earth for a reason and that they are somehow connected with humanity or the universe. People who possess a sense of purpose believe that they were put on earth for a reason. That reason can have all kinds of variety. It could be to create a unique invention, bring joy through art or music, or raise their children to become good people. These people have a true calling.
Having a clear sense of purpose in life and believing that you’re connected to a larger meaning gives individuals strength. It allows them to persevere and find courage in trying circumstances or lead with kindness and love even when it’s not reciprocated. Those with a sense of purpose have more meaning in their life -- and are more fulfilled.
To practice and encourage the character strength of purpose with your child, please visit the Positivity Project’s P2 for Families (password: P2), where together you will watch a video, read a quote, and talk about the answers to three questions.

The junior high counselors came to Madison to visit with our sixth graders this week to start to prepare them for seventh grade. In addition to sharing information about schedules, classes, and lockers, they also answered the students questions so they have a better understanding of what to expect.
