As I reflect back on this school year, I would like to thank all of our families for supporting the work we do here at school. It truly takes a village. This has been a wonderful school year and we are already looking forward to 2024-2025!

Please mark your calendars for our Back-to-School Ice Cream Social on Tuesday, August 13th from 5:00-6:30pm. Come out to school and meet your child's teacher, see their classroom, and connect with other families. We look forward to seeing you there.

This is our last Phalen Flyer for the school year. You can expect to receive future flyers the week of August 5th. The first day of school is Thursday, August 15th.

Summer Advantage enrollment is still open! The opportunity to receive transportation has closed, but it's not too late if you would like your child to attend.

PLA@93 is happy to have yearbooks available for purchase again this year. They are available in the front office daily for $20.

This week's community resource is the 2024 Summer Meal Service Program. Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS) is pleased to announce the 2024 Summer Meal Service Program, which aims to provide free, healthy meals to students during the summer months. This program is part of IPS’s ongoing efforts to support the well-being of the community’s children and combat food insecurity.

The 2024 Summer Meal Service Program will offer free breakfast and lunch at various school locations and through the Bus Stop Café food bus initiative. The program will run from June 3, 2024, to July 19, 2024, with a brief pause on June 19 and July 4.

Enrollment for Summer Advantage is open! Are you looking for an excellent summer enrichment program to help scholars maintain their academic skills? PLA@93 is hosting Summer Advantage at our building. This opportunity is open to all of our scholars currently in kindergarten through 5th grade. Current 6th grade scholars can enroll in the summer Advantage program at JRPLA. Programming will take place from June 10th-July 12th. The best part is that this opportunity is completely FREE! You may enroll online at school from 8:00-1:00. Computers will be available. The deadline to receive transportation was April 8th. Applications for scholars received after April 8 will not receive transportation.

PLA@93 is enrolled in the Box Tops for Education program to raise money for our school! Box tops has done away with the traditional box tops clips, but now they have an app where you can scan your receipt and earn points instantly. Box Tops are worth $.10 each and they add up fast! Twice a year, our school receives a check to help pay for whatever we need - equipment, supplies or experiences the kids love! This is a very easy way to earn money for the school. All you have to do is shop, scan, and earn points!

Here's how it works:

1. Buy Box Tops products and scan your receipt with the Box Tops app within 14 days of purchase.
2. After scanning your receipt, make sure Phalen Leadership Academies School 93 is your selected school in the app.
3. Tap on Give Credit to select your child's classroom. You can scroll down to add a note with your child's name or additional information on who should get credit.
4. The number of Box Tops earned with your receipt will be credited to the classroom you selected.
5. To see where your child's classroom stands on our leaderboard, open the Box Tops app, tap on the school card on the Home screen and check out Fall Leaderboard on the school dashboard.

Want to give credit for a digital or email receipt? Go into the Box Tops app, tap on the My Earnings button at the top of the screen and tap on the transaction you'd like to credit. Scroll past the list of products and tap on Give Credit at the bottom of the screen. Then, select your child's classroom.
