14th Street School Field Notes

The PTO-sponsored Fall Jubilee held on October 18 was a smashing success, with students (and many of their parents!) in a wide variety of costumes, yummy food treats, and lots of fun activities, including Halloween-themed games, face painting, and the opportunity to explore some really big trucks! Many thanks to all of the volunteers who helped design, organize, and staff such a wonderful event.

Thanks also to PK Teacher Ms. Coltart for taking advantage of a grant opportunity to order new playground equipment. Clearly, it's a success!

Every Friday we randomly select a prize winner (one per class) from among the students who received a Ram award that week for being a responsible worker, acting respectfully, having a mighty positive attitude, and/or staying safe. Selected students get to choose a small toy, bring in an item for Show and Tell, read to a class, help Mr. Deane, eat lunch with a friend, or (my personal favorite) eat lunch with me.

Art Teacher Ms. Caler continues to elicit dazzling explosions of color from her students while also educating them on lines and shapes!

• The school opens to students at 8:40 am, when we have supervision in the cafeteria and on the playground. For safety reasons, we are no longer able to admit students to the lobby beforehand. Bikers, walkers, and drop offs are kindly requested not to press the door buzzer before 8:40 am. Students line up for class at 8:55 am, when the bell rings, and the school day begins promptly at 9:00 am.
• If your child will be following a different routine at the end of the school day, please notify Ms. McCorrison directly. Several times a bus has been held for a student who was dismissed to a parent/guardian through the classroom door and she was unaware that would be occurring.
• Your cooperation at arrival and dismissal is much appreciated!
