August 2024
From the Desk of Principal Braithwait
Just yesterday (it seems) we were shaking the hands of the class of 2024 for making it, and now I’m writing a welcome back letter! I've had a lot of people ask me "Are you ready?". As I've mentioned in the past, most educators start to get into teaching mode right after the 4th of July. You will start seeing more and more vehicles at school. By August 1st most everyone will have spent some time getting prepared.
I'm looking forward to year number 4 in Wallace and year 39 overall. It's always exciting to see everyone back getting ready. It's even more exciting and fun when the students walk through the door. I look forward to working with your children this year. We have some good leaders in our senior class, which always makes the year go smoother.
One change that many of you will notice is that this year when a student is on the Down's List, or is Ineligible, they will come to my office and call home. In the past you always got a letter in the mail. The mail seemingly was taking longer to get these notices to you. I'm sure it won't be fun, and probably will be a little embarrassing, for your son or daughter to have to walk down to my office and call you. That's okay! If being a little embarrassed about having to come in and call is a motivator for better grades, so be it. I also want to work on students getting to school and in the classroom before the last bell. I'll start keeping students after school if this becomes a problem.
Again, I'm looking forward to working with your child (ren). Wallace Public Schools has high expectations and standards for our students. I don' t foresee any issues with our kids. As I said before, Wallace has outstanding young men and women. Our kids take a backseat to no one when it comes to being good kids.
If you are a new student, make sure you contact the office and get registered. Don't forget you will need a physical before you practice!
Thank you!
Mr B.

FFA News
Hello friends of the FFA! This summer our FFA members and officer team have been busy. On May 20th and 21st the new 2024-2025 officer team- Ashley Robertson (President), Ryleigh Hanson (Vice President), Devin Giesselman (Secretary), Max Hanson (Treasurer), Mallory McConnell (Reporter), Kendall McClintock (Parliamentarian), Adan Juarez (Sentinel), and Tyson Sullivan (Historian)- had the opportunity to attend the annual COLT conference put on by the new Nebraska State Officer Team. This year's theme was all about going the extra mile. We spent two days in Aurora at the Leadership Center learning about our new positions, and how to fulfill our duties with other officer teams from across the state. Our officer team was able to win one room of the parliamentary procedure contest! The contest entailed performing the FFA opening and closing ceremonies in front of a panel of judges. We also had the opportunity to prepare and plan for the year ahead!
During June, the FFA hosted the Summer Reading Program! Our dates this year were June 4th, 11th, 18th, and 25th. This year's theme was Adventures! Each week the students learned about the different parts of an adventure. Some of the topics covered were dreams and problem solving. The kids were able to listen to stories, enjoy an activity, do a craft, and even have a snack. We had a great turnout this year with so many kids attending. We would like to thank the Faith Memorial Library for letting us use their space to host our event again this year. We would also like to thank the many volunteers from the library for providing the snacks for the kids each week!
With school starting just around the corner, we can’t wait to get back in the Ag room! You can keep up to date with our activities by following our Instagram account- Wallace_ffa, Facebook account- Wallace Ffa Chapter, or the Wallace Public School app and website! We can’t wait for you to see all the fun things our FFA chapter will be doing throughout the new school year!
