Hello River Bend Families!

Spring Break is here!

Let's start with some celebrations and appreciations! Thank you so much to our PTO for an amazing BINGO night last Friday. They also gifted us a whole school performance from the Metro Theater Company today to celebrate spring.

It was a fun week of spirit and creativity. There were some fancy dressed kids, monochromatic fits, wacky dressed staff and students, and some great looking book characters.

We wrapped up our learning on ATTITUDE this week. There was a lot of teaching and conversation around Circle of Control. This is a difficult concept for me as an adult so I can only imagine how it feels as a child. We must remember to teach that as it is a skill for school and for life.

Benchmark Unit 8 is going well. We have some experiences and celebrations coming up when we return from spring break. Kindergarten and 1st grade will have a puppet show performance on recycling and how our actions impact our planet and life. We will also have a spirit day on March 26th called "Weather Wednesday." Students can dress up to represent a certain type of weather or season or even be as a meteorologist. Everyone can be creative!

No matter your plans for Spring Break, may you be surrounded by those you love! If you are traveling, be safe. Have fun. My husband and I are driving to San Antonio tomorrow to visit my cousin and do some touristy things. Oh... and also to pick up our new puppy. (We are nuts!) She's a 5 pound long hair dapple miniature dachshund. Her name is Elsa and she may or may not be in my pocket, a dog purse, a baby crib in my office, or in a stroller when I return after spring break. I can't leave that baby in a crate all day while we are at work. Seriously, please let me know if your child has a dog allergy:-)
