Improving Your Child's GPA
Want to Improve your Childs GPA?
Increasingly we are addressing students with very high levels of stress. The typical reason is academic stress associated with taking too many honors or AP courses. Sometimes, students take a course for the GPA bump and do not like the content. Often, we find students compromising their integrity by taking short cuts and cheating. In speaking with students who have violated the honor code, the reason is always the same, “I did not have enough time”. Students may try and cheat due to not having time to study. This creates other problems of anxiety and depression as student believe their GPA is a reflection of self-worth. As parents this is hard to combat.
Recently, Loudoun County Public Schools has partnered with ParentGuidance.org, which is an organization that provides free coaching for parents on how to approach discussions with their kids surrounding mental health. Below is a link to a virtual course on helping student with,” Beating The Fear That You’re Not Enough”. Please use this resource to tackle any number of teen related mental health struggles. Any reduction in stress and increased wellbeing helps students perform at their best.
