Message from the Principal
Dear Byrom Families,
It's hard to believe we are halfway through May already! The end of school brings a lot of excitement and the wrapping up of loose ends. We just wrapped up Acadiance testing and the window for i-Ready closes on the 24th. We are anxiously awaiting the final results! We also wanted to share some early information about the day of the school year...
1. Friday, June 14th will be a half day for all students...8:00AM - 11:15AM
2. Elementary Schools: Breakfast served as usual. Schools can decide whether they want to provide a “grab and go” lunch to students. The meal will be for purchase for those students who request lunch. Students who attend a CEP school or who qualify for free and reduced meals will be able to pick up a lunch at no charge.
3. The approximate bus schedule for Thursday, June 14th will be as follows:
a. 11:15 a.m. Elementary School
b. 12:05 p.m. Middle School
c. 12:55 p.m. High School
Speaking of the last day of the school year, we could use your help!!! We need to remove some old curriculum to make way for the new curriculum. If you are willing to cross-out barcodes, stamp some books, and move them to a closet, we could use your help!!! Please let Mr. Coleman if you have availability on June 17th to support this effort. I will be sending another invite as we get closer to the last day of school. Thank you for your consideration!
We are having some issues with students staying after school to play on the playground without parent supervision. This has resulted in some unsafe behavior. Please remind your students who walk or ride bikes home to head home first and get permission and/or supervision. Thank you!
Have a Great Weekend!!!

Tualatin Together
Tualatin Together has adapted the National Safety Town Center curriculum for our community and will provide Tualatin's inaugural Safety Town in July 2024. Safety Town Tualatin’s Goal is to create foundational safety habits for rising kindergarteners to use at home, school, and/or community spaces.
Safety Town is a 1 week, half day camp for 1st graders and rising kindergarteners that teaches basic safety lessons. Safety Town uses guest presentations, songs, dance, crafts, and hands-on experiences to teach students basic safe practices with fire, pedestrian, bikes, traffic, buses, water, poison, and emergency preparedness. Safety Town will be overseen and administered by Tualatin Together and will employ middle and high school students from our community to serve as counselors and junior counselors.
Tualatin Together is a non-profit organization that has served Tualatin since 1990. Tualatin Together’s primary focus is to prevent youth consumption of marijuana, alcohol, tobacco, vaping and other high risk activities that prevent them from living to their full potential. To do this, they work to facilitate positive mental health norms for youth by teaching resilience, building coping skills, recognizing and addressing trauma, and providing resources to and events in our community that address community norms that support positive youth development.

School-Based Therapists treat mental health conditions which can include depression, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, or substance use issues.

Volunteering
Volunteer process:
We are very fortunate to have wonderful community members and families that want to be part of our students' education by volunteering! With that comes the responsibility of making sure our schools and students are safe at all times.
Anyone seeking to be a volunteer for our schools and or buildings needs to be background checked and offered the vector training. If a community member and or parent wants to volunteer, they have to go through the volunteer process and be cleared before doing so.
Volunteers and after school events
The volunteer process must be followed if the person will be interacting with our students. Whether the volunteering will take place during school or after school, the parent/community member must undergo the volunteer requirements as outlined on our website. This includes all school and or PTO/PSO sponsored events.
Visitors and after school or PTO/PSO sponsored events
Visitors to these events do not need to be background checked and go through the volunteer process as they are not expected to have interaction with students. Adults that come as visitors to after school events are only expected to supervise the children/students that accompany them.
Covid Vaccine Cards are no longer required!
