A Message From the Director of Teaching and Learning:
First Year Impact of Amplify Shared at All-District APT Meeting
April 17, 2024
Dear District 67 Community:
Thank you to all of our District 67 APT representatives and community members who were able to attend our April 11 presentation on our first year of implementation with Amplify CKLA and ELA. I was pleased to be joined by District Literacy Coach Denise Galatsianos, ELA Department Chair, and Instructional Coach Michael Barry, as we shared stories, reflections, and insights reflecting the positive impact our new English Language Arts resource is having on student learning.
Slides from the presentation may be found here.
Over the course of the year, we've been able to gather feedback from multiple perspectives and will continue to be intentional with our support moving forward. We are so proud of our students for rising to the challenge. We are also tremendously grateful to our teachers for embracing this change and making it a very meaningful year for students.
Thank you to our community for your continued and vested interest in supporting our students. As a reminder, if you have not had a chance to review the parent presentations from the fall, be sure to check out our Teaching and Learning page with links to the videos!
All my best,
Vail V. Kieser
Director of Teaching and Learning

District 115 Board of Education Seeks New Member
District 115 Board of Education announced the resignation of Dr. Marcus Schabacker, effective April 12. The Board is grateful to Dr. Schabacker, who has served since 2021, for his contributions to the District and wish him well in his future endeavors.
Following the Illinois School Code, the responsibility for filling the vacant position now rests with the remaining board members. They have a 60-day window from Dr. Schabacker's resignation date to accomplish this task. Failure to fill the position within this timeframe will shift the responsibility to the Regional Superintendent of Schools.
The Board encourages all interested and qualified individuals that wish to serve on the Board to submit an application. Completed applications must be received by 5:00 pm on Tuesday, April 23, 2024. Once the Board of Education has reviewed the applications, selected candidates will be interviewed, and an appointee will be installed at the District 115 Board Meeting on June 4, 2024.

Students Enjoy Sun-sational View of the Solar Eclipse
On April 8, students across the District joined millions across the country in witnessing the solar eclipse. Clear skies provided the perfect opportunity for classes to head outside, don their solar safety glasses, and peer up to view the rare phenomenon.
The eclipse also offered chances for scientific experimentation as students worked closely with teachers to explore the uniqueness of the event. The next eclipse viewable in the U.S. won't be until August 2044.
