Week of September 29, 2024
Schools Closed Due to Inclement Weather
Due to widespread power outages and the continuing impact of Hurricane Helene, schools are closed on Monday, September 30, and Tuesday, October 1, 2024.
These days are not eLearning - we are closed. No assignments will be given for 9/30 and 10/1, and extreme grace will be provided for the eLearning assignments from Friday.
Please understand that one of the main reasons we are closing schools is to ensure the safety of our students and staff. Additionally, we respectfully ask families to help minimize travel on county roads during this time. This is needed to allow our emergency workers to access areas needing support more easily.
We are incredibly grateful to the men and women working hard to restore power and serve our community during this difficult time. Please keep those working nonstop in your thoughts and prayers as they help us return to normalcy.

West End Dolphin Superpod,
The past several days has devastated our community, county, and state. I know that many of us are facing hardships and that the impact of Hurricane Helene continues to affect us.
I am thankful our district always considers the safety of our students and was proactive in the decision to have an e-learning day for our students on Friday and to cancel school on Monday and Tuesday. Please do not worry about e-learning assignments from Friday and know that our only concern at this time is the safety of our students, families, and community.
We do not know what the remainder of the week holds for the SDPC and our community. At this time, we do plan to host our Title I sponsored Family Adventure Night. This will provide a time of fun and fellowship for our students, staff, and families.
Be sure to check your emails, social media, and voicemails/phone calls, for continued updates.

Breakfast Helpers
Mrs. Gossett wants to recognize Aliyah, Joshua, Ryan, and Jace for stepping up and being leaders in the cafeteria during breakfast each morning! These students help in the morning by mopping, tracking spills, wiping tables, and picking up trash---all without being asked! They celebrate students and encourage them daily with positive comments! We are so thankful to have these three step up and LEAD every morning!
