Sprayberry Counseling Newsletter
April 2024
Welcome back from Spring Break! With the school year coming to a close, your counselors are here to help with your final high school steps for seniors and to prepare for the next school year for our younger Yellow Jackets. So students, please don't hesitate to stop by the counseling office to check in and parents, you are always welcome to schedule appointments for any questions or concerns you need resolved before May 22!
Seniors! Academic Signing Day will be held this year after the Honors and Awards night on April 16th. Please use the QR to register for the event. Registration must be turned in by April 12th at 2:00 PM.
This is a great blog entry from UGA Admissions about the importance of school and community involvement for students along with having a balanced schedule. Take a few minutes to read for some insight into what colleges are looking for in applicants.
This Shadow Day is a great opportunity for students to see what college can really be like!
Seniors! Follow the instructions on our flyer posted here to order your official transcript. Midyear transcripts are now available to send. Midyear transcripts include your first semester grades, your current in-progress classes, and your updated GPA.
Important HOPE Scholarship Information
The counseling department sent an email out to Seniors who do not have a Social Security Number (SSN) on file with the county. If your student does not have their SSN on file they will not be eligible for the HOPE or Zell Miller Scholarship. Seniors need to make sure they have submitted their Social Security Number to the counseling office, or you can upload a document in ParentVue. Our registrar, Ms. Morales will then be able to update your student's file with the information.
Please update your student’s social security number through ParentVUE or through the counseling office.
Log into ParentVUE:
- Click on Student’s Name
- Click on Change My Information
- Click on Student Information
- Click on Edit Student Information
- Scroll down past emergency contacts to Student Documents: Social Security is the second choice, click to Upload
- Upload image of Social Security Card
Initiated by Governor Brian Kemp, GEORGIA MATCH will show your senior all of the public colleges and universities in Georgia for which they have met the initial academic requirements for admission.
The GEORGIA MATCH program and the financial aid resources available at www.GAfutures.org will help your student identify the best college or university in Georgia to achieve their higher education and career goals.
SAT & ACT Wavier Information and Test Dates
To qualify for a fee waiver students must meet one of the qualifications listed in the ACT and SAT waiver information linked on the names. If your student receives free or reduced lunch, they qualify and need to speak with Mrs. Daiber for their waivers.
