Being on time to school is a priority!
Tardy Policy: Please remind your students of the importance of being on time for class. Every 5th and 10th tardy will result in a one hour detention. 15 or more tardies will result in a two hour detention Parents, please talk with your students about the importance of being on time to class. Students who are tardy miss critical instructional time and disrupt the flow of learning. We appreciate your timely support with this.
Attendance and Absences: it is imperative that you contact Attendance Technician, Doris Ricks, at (619) 522-8907 (2094). Unverified absences will be considered truant after 24 hours.
- Tardies: Thank you for continuing to remind your student about the importance of getting to class on time.
- Email Notification: Students will receive detention notification to their CUSD email accounts. Student should check their email weekly for all notifications.
Early Release: If your student needs to leave school early, it's imperative you contact the attendance clerk as early as possible. This will help with releasing your student on time.
Independent Study Contracts: Students who have a planned absence of five or more consecutive days may complete an Independent Study Contract. Parents must complete the “Request for Independent Study” form (available in the front office) at least one week/5 school days prior to the absence date.
If Your Student Becomes Ill During the School Day: Students who feel ill MUST report to the nurse’s office. The nurse’s office will call the parent, and only then will the student be released to go home. If a student leaves school without checking out of the health office first, the absence will remain unexcused. The health and safety of every student is our top priority.
E-Bikes: We have had an increase in calls about e-bikes being ridden at high speeds through the pedestrian walkway between Village Elementary and CHS Niedermeyer Field. Please remind your students to follow traffic rules and adhere to the city signage stating that no bikes are to ridden in that walkway. There have been some close calls with small children and pedestrians. Thank you
Campus Pride: Please help us remind students about the importance of taking pride in our school by picking up their trash, refraining from vandalizing school grounds and restrooms, and helping to keep our beautiful campus clean!
Freshman Lunch: All Freshmen are REQUIRED to remain on campus during lunch. Freshmen who leave campus will receive detention and parents/guardians will be contacted.
Campus Safety: Guests are required to always check in at the front office. ALL visitors must present their identification when visiting campus.
Detention: Detention will be held weekly on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:40 - 4:40pm
Student IDs: Please remind your student to always have their student ID.
Bike Safety: Bikes and E-Bikes: Please remind your student to wear their helmet and follow all traffic laws and "Walk Your Wheels" zones while riding their bikes to school. Our top priority is to keep our students and community safe at all times.

Devices:
- As part of this program, all Coronado High School students are required to bring a fully charged device to school daily. Students who need a device will have the opportunity to check-out a Chromebook during schedule pick-up.
Students Using Personal Devices
CHS students who have personal devices at home may use their own device as an alternative to a CUSD Chromebook. If your student chooses to use a personal device, however, please note that it will not have specific CUSD features, such as testing lockdown browsers and content filters. If your student chooses to use their own device for daily school work, they may still be issued a CUSD Chromebook for state testing in Spring 2024 to meet secure browser requirements.
Students Using CUSD Devices
CHS families who choose to check-out a CUSD Chromebook for their student’s daily school work may keep the device for the duration of their student’s enrollment at CHS, including summers. Students will practice responsibility for operating and maintaining their individual CUSD devices throughout their time at CHS. We also encourage families to purchase the OPTIONAL Mobile Device Protection Plan for CUSD Chromebooks for just $20 a year to limit any fines due to accidental damage. The Protection Plan must be purchased annually within two weeks of the beginning of the school year in order to be valid. A new Protection Plan must also be purchased if a student is provided with a replacement device due to damage/loss of their previous device.
