Welcome to a New Week
I hope everyone is well! The weather certainly took a turn for the better last week, minus the snow we got on Friday. We're all looking forward to bright, warm, sunny days- and I think they are coming!
On Friday, we honored students who demonstrated being Kind, Safe and Engaged with our typical Golden Paw Awards. The PBIS team also began collecting nominations for The Great Golden Paw, and Unified Arts teachers recognized a student of the month. Great Golden Paws are awarded to students nominated by teaching staff for going above and beyond in demonstrating our school-wide expectations.
The Great Golden Paw was awarded to:
- Miss Lucy Kraemer
- Mr. Weston Shaffer
- Miss Olivia Cochran
Unified Arts Students of the Month:
- Music: Miss Oona Betancourt
- French: Miss Lucy Kraemer
- Art: Miss Oona Betancourt
- Guidance: Miss Lily Danis
- PE: Miss Maggie Peacock
- Library: Miss Hadley Dennison
We started our afternoon bus split this week, and we have received glowing reviews from students who are enjoying the extra outside time, and a few families have reached out to share the same feelings. If there is something you would like to share, good or bad, about the new bus schedule, please email Mrs. H.
A few things to note:
- Staying after school until 3:30 is only for students on the second bus run.
- If your child/ren is on the second bus run, but you need to pick them up, please let the office know.
- Kiddos can always choose to ride the 1st and 2nd bus runs.
- We will send all kids on the first bus run if we are short-staffed and can't safely monitor second-bus run kiddos.
We wrapped up March with a fantastic day! Some of our incoming Kindergarteners spent a few hours with our current 5th-grade Grand Isle Game Changers on Friday morning! I will brag about them for a second because they were AMAZING! Their patience, kindness, and care for these new students were "game-changing." I'm so proud of all of you, and I know Ms. Larson and Ms. Krista feel the same way.
This week, we open our last local assessment window for reading and math; next month, we open our state-wide testing. It's a busy end of the school year, for sure!
Our homestretch of the school year is sprinkled with all kinds of fun. We have our PBIS bowling trip on April 20th; our 4th-graders will visit the State House; we have April break, our Islands Music Festival; our Kindergarten and 1st-grade classrooms will visit Shelburn Farms; we have our GIS play, music, and art night, cookout, and 6th-grade graduation. Phew!
In between all of the excitement, our PTA is hosting numerous fundraisers! For more information regarding our Spring Flower Sale, Hannaford Rewards Program, and Pan's Pizza Fundraiser, check out the info below!
Please ask questions; my door and inbox are always open!
