Monitoring the weather and its potential impact
Dear GLOBE families,
It is wonderful to see all of our GLOBE students back at school following Winter Break. Please know that we are closely monitoring the forecast of severe weather as we get closer to the weekend. As mentioned in our communication on Monday, GLOBE follows DeKalb County School District decisions on weather emergencies/closures. We will communicate any changes as early as possible.
Please register your cell phone number with our Remind text messaging service by texting @globers to 81010. If a potentially hazardous event occurs prior to the beginning of the school day, we recommend you tune in to local radio or television broadcasts (WSB-TV Channel 2 is a great resource), check local news networks, GLOBE's website, social media, etc. for information.
Thank you for your continued partnership as we begin the second semester in 2025. Please take a few moments to read through the news and notes listed below.
In community,
Christi Elliott-Earby
Executive Director

Athletics
We are excited to get the new semester of athletics underway. Congratulations to all of our sports teams for doing a fantastic job!
Athletes of the Month
Congratulations to our Athletes of the Month. Grayson Miller and Jessel Martin (Cross Country) for September 2024, and Henry Cottrell and Hana Weber (Ultimate) for October. GLOBE Athletic Club recognize the exceptional effort and leadership of one male and one female athlete each month. These student athletes are nominated by their respective coaches then voted on by all coaches and committee members to determine the winners.
Spring Sports Registration
Information and registration for spring sports will be available next week.
Basketball
Congratulations to all of the Boys A, B and C teams. They are all in first place in the MAAC Conference!

Summer Language Camp 2025
We are excited to announce we will be operating our annual Summer Language Camp program in June of 2025. We will have camp for the full three weeks, working to the same format for each day, however, there will only be one language track per week offered due to space limitations as the school relocates to its new campus building (for K–5) over summer break 2025.
Summer Language Camp 2025 will run during the following weeks: June 9 (Mandarin), June 16 (French) and June 23 (Spanish). Registration will open in the new year. More details will be announced in the coming weeks. If you have any questions, please email the summer camp team.
School Clinic
Norovirus is currently very active, as is Influenza A. Please help us to reinforce good hand washing habits to keep the transmission of cold and flu viruses to a minimum.
If your child is sent home from school with symptoms of vomiting/diarrhea, please follow the '48 hour rule'. This means that you must wait until 48 hours has passed since the last occurrence of vomiting and diarrhea, and/or 48 hours after a fever breaks without the use of any Motrin (Ibuprofen) or Tylenol (Acetaminophen).
If a parent/guardian is contacted to pick up their student from school, we ask that they please arrive to collect them promptly (within one hour). Thank you for your continued support as we strive to keep our GLOBE community safe and healthy in 2025.
