The Shannon Park Acts of Character Program revolves around teaching, promoting, recognizing and celebrating positive character traits in students. During the month of April, we will be focusing on the character trait of Respect.

Please remember to report all absences and changes of schedules by calling 651-423-7670 during school hours or by submitting a form here.

We have begun our Creativity Unit in Preschool. In this unit, children have the opportunity to plan, create, evaluate, and share ideas. We learn how to work together to create murals, how to use instruments to create music, and how to create with movement and dancing. Our dramatic play area has been a construction site and will soon be a theater, complete with working keyboard and karaoke machine. Families have been donating a variety of craft and other supplies that we lovingly call “junk”. The children have been making amazing creations using this junk. A favorite creation has been our photo booth. The children have enjoyed selecting a variety of props to create fun photos to send to parents on See Saw. On March 20th we had a wonderful Parent/Child Activity Day with Anna Dutke, outdoor Preschool teacher from Oak Ridge. She led families on a scavenger hunt, played a game using a bird and squirrel puppet, and helped guide us in exploring our outdoor space. Families were able to explore balls and ramps, build stick forts, cook in our mud kitchen, and practice shaving sticks using vegetable peelers. It was a beautiful day and we had a great time.

The Shannon Park Site Council is a group of individuals comprised of elected parents, Shannon Park teachers, and staff. Through various programs and events throughout the year, the Shannon Park Site Council (SPSC) aims to support the scholastic efforts of our students and teachers, build a strong school community that includes all students and their families, and raise funds that directly support and impact our entire school community.
