A Cimarron Middle School community communication
Veterans Day Celebration
We would like to take a moment to reflect on the wonderful Veterans Day event we held on November 11th. It was a heartfelt occasion that allowed us to come together as a community to honor and celebrate the bravery and sacrifices of all those who have served in our armed forces.
The ceremony was truly meaningful, with inspiring performances and stories shared by our students and community members. It was touching to see so many veterans in attendance, and their presence reminded us of the importance of gratitude and respect for those who have dedicated their lives to protecting our freedoms.
Thank you to everyone who participated in making this event a success. Your support and enthusiasm helped create a warm atmosphere of appreciation and remembrance. I would also like to extend a special thank you to all the veterans who joined us; your service and sacrifice do not go unnoticed.
Our Principal, Chris Zimmerman, going above and beyond to help a family with some car trouble.

Student Pick Up Reminder
Any person picking up a student must be listed either as a household member or as an emergency contact in the student profile. If someone is picking up your student, and they are not listed as an emergency contact, the student can not be released until we have written permission from a parent/ guardian, which will cause a delay in the release time.
You can review your student’s demographic information, including emergency contacts, by signing into Express Check-in via your EngagED Parent Portal. Remember to add @p.dcsdk12.org after your single sign-on username when logging into the EngagED Parent Portal.
For example, if you have a username of absmith, you will use absmith@p.dcsdk12.org for your EngagED username along with your district password.
If you want to add or remove emergency contacts, please complete this request form. You will receive a confirmation email once a contact has been added or removed.
Please email the Registrar at jlmcrae@dcsdk12.org with same-day requests. Thank you for planning ahead!
Love and Logic Parenting Tip
Foster a Growth Mindset
Kids with a growth mindset believe they can get better with effort. They’re more likely to take on challenges, stick with them, and see hard work as the path to success. Acknowledge your child’s efforts when they work hard, stick with something difficult, or learn from their mistakes. Encourage them to take on new challenges and see mistakes as part of the learning process. A growth mindset also helps kids set their own goals and reflect on their progress.
Connect Their Interests to Real-World Issues
Kids often find purpose when they see how their interests connect to the world around them. Help your child understand how their passions can be used to solve real-world problems. The key is helping them see the bigger picture—how their talents and interests can make a difference. When kids see the impact they can have, their sense of purpose deepens. They start to understand that what they do matters, and that they can use their skills for good.
Donations
Donations Needed: Please drop off all donations at the front office. We appreciate you!
We are always looking for gift card donations of $5 gift cards to support our Be RED card Friday Drawings. Students love Fika, McDonalds, Starbucks, Chick-fil-A, Berry Blendz, Swirls, Target, and Five Below gift cards.
In an effort to show our appreciation for our outstanding staff, we are launching an initiative to provide them with tokens of gratitude throughout the year. These tokens, though small, carry a significant impact in letting our staff know that their hard work and dedication do not go unnoticed. To achieve this, we have created an Amazon Wish List filled with a variety of small thank-you gifts that our staff members would greatly appreciate. These gifts will be given out as tokens of appreciation to those who consistently go the extra mile for our students.
The Be RED store is up and running! We are employing 8th grade students to help run the store this year. It has been awesome to see their interactions with younger students and their hard work. This past week on 11/21, the kids spent close to 700 RED cards- That might be a new record!
We are always looking for continued donations as our inventory gets pretty low; the best sellers are Air Heads, packs of gum, mini Gatorades, and lunch-sized bags of chips/ pringles/ goldfish/ etc!!
Feel free to search on this Amazon wish list but you can always go off board too! Ask your student for ideas on items they would like to see in the store! Thank you!
