We Are Better Together!

Greetings Kindergarten Families

We had a very busy and fun week working and learning together! Kids are extra excited this time of year and may need extra sleep:) Class holiday parties will be on Thursday, December 19 from 9:00am - 9:30am. A 'sign up' will be coming to you soon so you may register early for check in. We are still collecting Toys for Tots, so please donate if you are able.

Following are some important reminders to keep in mind for this school year:

School hours are 7:20-3:05. If you are dropping your child off after 7:20, please park in the front parking lot and sign your child in at the front office. If you are arriving after 3:30pm for pickup, please park in the front parking lot and walk to the office with your car tag.
Transportation changes need to go through the office. Please call 972-617-3523 before 2:00 pm for any transportation changes.
Contacting your child's teacher: If you call or email your child's teacher, they will respond within 24 hours as our focus during the day is your students.
Lunch with your student: Parents are welcome to visit during lunches of scholars on any day of the week.
Birthday treats: Birthday treats will only be served on Fridays. You may drop off treats in the office and they will be delivered to the classroom.

Attendance Matters

Arriving on time ensures that your child can begin the day smoothly, without missing out on valuable instruction time or important activities. Please help us by ensuring your child arrives at school by 7:25 ready to win the day.

What We Are Learning

ELAR

Students will practice retelling a story with a beginning, middle and ending and continue making connections to the story. Students will work on the 3rd 6 weeks writing sample.

Math

We will continue to compare and generate a number that is one more and one less using concrete objects and numerals.

Social Studies and Science

Social Studies: We continue our study on map skills and learn about celebrations around the world.

Science: We will continue learning about weather and air.

Suite 360: We will learn how to understand another's point of view.

Ideas for Learning at Home

Read, Read, Read

Read with your child every day. Have your child count the words in the sentence and identify the beginning and ending of the sentence. Look for nouns, verbs and adjectives in their story. Have your child illustrate their favorite part of the story.

Math activities

Practice comparing sets with your child using "more than" and "less than" verbiage. Roll some dice or use a deck of cards to compare and generate one more and one less.
