They say that time flies when you are having fun, and we certainly have had a lot of fun in Spanish class! It seems like we were just getting started with basic introductions, and before we knew it, it was time for our last few weeks of the 2023-24 school year.
Fifth Grade is putting the finishing touches on their study of the basic Spanish vocabulary words associated with each month and season. Their complete word lists will be sent home at the end of the year, and if practiced occasionally over the summer, should provide extra practice to help prepare students for continued study of the Spanish language in Middle School.
Fourth Grade has completed their unit on the Spanish words for the basic body parts, and they have moved on to vocabulary that names some basic articles of clothing. We will also be taking a brief look at the celebration of Cinco de Mayo, and the historical events that made this date important to the people of Mexico.
Third Grade has begun their study of the Spanish words for the basic colors. They are learning the words for 11 colors as well as 2 metallic colors. This is always a favorite unit with students because it is not only fun, but colorful as well!
Second Grade has finished their study of farm animals in Spanish. We added vocabulary for additional animals, as well as the Spanish term for farmer. It was a fun unit to complete, with a variety of activities. We are now working on learning vocabulary associated with the season of la primavera, or spring, to finish up the year.
First Grade is finishing up their unit on Spanish words for the numbers 1-20. Basic Spanish vocabulary for these numbers was taught, and students were given many opportunities to apply this vocabulary. They will be finishing the year with a unit on the Spanish words for the basic animals that we would see on a safari or at the zoo.
Kindergarten has been introduced to most of the basic colors. After some additional practice with the 6 colors that we have learned, they will be introduced to one more of the basic shapes in Spanish. Please encourage them to keep singing their Spanish color songs over the summer!
I have truly enjoyed working with all of the grade levels this year, and I hope that they have enjoyed their time in Spanish class as well. I also hope that they will continue to practice their new vocabulary words over the summer! I look forward to continuing our journey through the Spanish language and Latin American Culture when they return in the fall!

It has been very busy in the library! We had One Book One School, which I hope everyone enjoyed, we had Battle of the Books, which we won against Spring Grove Elementary, and of course, we had the Scholastic Book Fair. I want to give a big thank you to the parent volunteers who helped us out during the fair.
With only a few more weeks of school left, I encourage parents to have their students keep reading over the summer. One way to get your children involved in reading over summer break is to sign up for the Youth Summer Reading Program at Nippersink Public Library. This year’s theme is Read, Renew, Repeat. Participants can earn coupons, prizes and drawing tickets; plus other fun activities.
Have a great summer!

As the end of the school year approaches, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on all the incredible moments we've shared together in computer class. I've watched your children tackle new challenges with enthusiasm and determination, whether it was mastering keyboarding skills, working in various Google Apps, exploring coding concepts, or discovering the wonders of digital art. Their creativity has shone through in every project and assignment, and it's been a joy to witness their talents blossom. Please make sure to check out my classroom website to see what each grade level will be working on during the last month of school. Also, feel free to visit this site throughout the summer. You will find some fun games and activities in my Mouse Practice, Keyboarding, and Coding sections that will allow your children to practice some of the skills they have learned throughout this school year.
Have a wonderful summer,
