Message from Mr. Hamacher
Good evening, Liberty Middle School Parents.
All 8th Graders will be participating in a pilot for the state's new ILEARN Checkpoints Assessment for English/Language Arts on Tuesday, September 24. Please be sure that your students are at school on time, as we will get started promptly at 8:50 a.m.
Next week is College GO Week! Students will be doing activities during their Advisory Period throughout the week. Students will explore how their interests and skills may line up with different careers. They’ll also begin to consider what type of education they’ll need to achieve their career and lifestyle goals.
Next week is also Homecoming! To show our spirit and support for our CHS Football Team, we are having a Homecoming Spirit Week. See the flier below for the list of our themes.
Per our District and Building Safety Plan, we conduct various monthly safety drills. On September 26, 2024, Liberty Intermediate/Middle School will be conducting an Armed Intruder Drill.
Per Indiana Code (IC) 10-21-1-10, during armed intruder drills, Liberty Intermediate/Middle schools will: conduct the drill in a practical nature (initiate a school-wide lockdown); have accommodations for students who have mobility restrictions, sensory needs, or auditory or visual limitations; provide access to mental health services on school grounds following the conclusion of a drill; and provide alternative exercises for students who are unable to participate in a drill.
Our LMS football, volleyball, and cross country teams continue their seasons and have more competitions next week!
Respectfully,
Mike Hamacher, LMS Principal

Students are permitted to use a wireless communication device in the event of a health or safety emergency or to manage health care as specifically defined in the student’s Individualized Health Plan (IHP), Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and/or Section 504 Plan.
A wireless communication device is defined by Indiana law as any portable wireless device that has the capability to provide voice, messaging, or other data communication between two (2) or more parties.
Electronic devices can aid or hinder the learning experience in a school environment. With this in mind, cell phones are not permitted to be visible/audible in the classrooms, hallways or lunchrooms at any time.

A Message From Nurse Sam
As part of our commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of all our students, we want to inform you about an important update regarding students who are injured and wearing medical devices such as walking boots, crutches, casts, slings, or splints. Effective immediately, any student with a medical device will be required to provide a doctor’s note confirming that they are cleared to participate in both gym class and recess. If a doctor advises against participation for any specified duration, the student will need to provide a subsequent note from the doctor clearing the student to resume these activities once they are healed.
This update is designed to ensure that all students can safely engage in physical activities while also considering their health and recovery. If you have any questions or need further clarification, please do not hesitate to reach out to the Health Clinic. Thank you for your cooperation and support.
