Message from the Superintendent: December 16, 2024

Dear PYLUSD Community,


We made it! The final week of school for 2024 is here. It’s hard to believe how quickly the year has flown by, but here we are, ready to celebrate the season and reflect on all that we’ve accomplished together.


As we embrace the holiday spirit, I am reminded of the joy that comes from giving back. This year, my son and I were privileged to volunteer with Lot 318 during their 17th Annual Thanksgiving Feast. It was heartwarming to witness the sense of community and kindness that defines Placentia-Yorba Linda.


The holiday season also brought an outpouring of support for our Family Resource Center (FRC), thanks to the generous contributions of local businesses, schools, and student organizations. These thoughtful donations will help bring comfort and cheer to families in need. You can read more about these incredible efforts HERE.


Another highlight of the season was the 2nd Annual Heroes and Helpers event, hosted by the Orange County Sheriff's Department in partnership with Target and the REACH Foundation. This special program spreads holiday joy by recognizing some of our standout PYLUSD students. Twelve deserving students were honored this year and treated to a morning of holiday shopping alongside deputies, made possible through Target grant funds and Yorba Linda Police Services donations. Our School Resource Officer personally notified each student and extended this exciting invitation, creating cherished memories for all involved.


To our administrators, educators, and support staff — thank you for your hard work and dedication throughout 2024. Your efforts make a profound difference, and I am excited to see all that we will achieve together in 2025.

School Choice Transfer Request Windows

The Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) School Choice Transfer Request period for the 2025-2026 school year is coming soon. During this time, parents of any current or incoming students who wish to attend a PYLUSD school other than their home school of residence for the 2025-2026 school year should fill out a School Choice Transfer Request. January 10 to February 14, 2025

Request notifications will take place on or before Friday, March 28, 2025.


COMING SOON - Students in Transitional Kindergarten or Kindergarten in 2025-26

March 17 to March 28, 2025

Request notifications will take place on or before Friday, April 11, 2025.

***New Students should enroll in their school of residence and then apply for a choice transfer if so desired. Enrollment for the school year 2025-2026 starts on February 1st.***

Transitional Kindergarten & Preschool Information Night

Will your child be turning four born between September 2, 2020, and September 1, 2021? Or are you considering keeping your child out of kindergarten for an additional year? If so, enroll them in the district’s award-winning Transitional Kindergarten (TK) program now offered at all elementary schools!


Learn more about TK at the district’s upcoming Parent Information Night on Monday, January 27, 2025 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Valencia High School Auditorium. The address is 512 Bradford Ave, Placentia, CA 92870.
