Irish Gifted Academy
Week of August 25th, 2024
Hey IGA Family!
As we wrap up the third week of school, I am filled with pride and excitement over the incredible start we’ve had this academic year. This week has been particularly memorable, marked by several firsts that have set the tone for an amazing year ahead.
We kicked off our first round of Beacon testing, which was a tremendous success. The results from these assessments will make a significant impact in our classrooms. By analyzing the data, we are able to pinpoint both the strengths and areas for growth within the domains we teach in the content areas of Math and English Language Arts (ELA). This precise understanding allows us to then use Progress Learning to target specific standards where students may need acceleration or remediation within the four content areas of Math, ELA, Science, and Social Studies. Our goal is to individualize instruction, ensuring that every student receives the support they need to achieve high levels of success.
In addition to our academic achievements, we celebrated our first pep rally of the year, where the energy and school spirit were palpable. The pep rally, held at Dublin Middle, was a fantastic opportunity for our students to come together, build camaraderie, and celebrate the start of our football season. Speaking of athletics, our first home football game was a resounding success! Our Fighting Irish secured a well-deserved victory over Jeff Davis. The support from our students, staff, and community was admirable, and it was a true testament to the strength and unity of our school family and community.
I would also like to take a moment to recognize two outstanding individuals who have gone above and beyond in their dedication to our program and community. A huge congratulations to Mrs. Fernandez, our Teacher of the Year, whose passion for teaching and unwavering commitment to her students continue to inspire us all. Additionally, a heartfelt shout-out to Mrs. Devaney, our Support Staff of the Year, for her tireless work behind the scenes, building relationships with our families, solidifying that bridge from home to our campus. Both of these remarkable women are integral to our success, and we are so fortunate to have them as part of our team.
Thank you to everyone—students, teachers, staff, and parents—for your hard work and dedication. Let’s keep this momentum going as we move forward, making this year our best yet!
With gratitude,
Mr. Taylor
