SHERROD ELEMENTARY NEWSLETTER VOL 25.21
JANUARY 13, 2025
Sherrod Parents and Guardians,
Sherrod Elementary is a Community Eligibility Program (CEP) school, which means we provide 100% free breakfast and lunch to all students. However, to maintain our Title I status, we are required to collect completed income declaration forms.
The information provided on this form is confidential and will only be used to determine Title 1 funding for the 2025-2026 school year. Your participation is crucial in helping Sherrod secure funding that supports essential Title 1 programs and events such as the Family Fun Run, Hello Summer Family Event, BINGO Night, Art Night, STEM Night, Love and Logic Parenting Classes, staffing and many other activities.
Please note that individual family data will not be reported. A separate form must be completed for each student in grades K-12 in your household.
Please complete the “Income Declaration form” (link below). Forms must be completed by January 27. Thank you for your support in helping Sherrod continue to offer these valuable programs through our Title 1 funds!
Sincerely,
Principal Cook
An ALASKAN author is visiting Sherrod in March! We are so excited to welcome Shelley Gill
Sherrod will be hosting Alaskan author, Shelley Gill, on March 4, 2025.
Please complete the form below to order any of Shelley Gill books. All books will be signed by the author and sent home on March 4.
The deadline to order is Wednesday, January 15th. You will receive a payment notification that needs to be made by credit card on School Pay by Friday, January 17th after you have made your selections.
Here is your chance to get an autographed book!
The Center for Safe Alaskans offers free reflective tape for Alaskans.
BE SEEN!!!
Low light and snow-covered sidewalks make it hard for drivers to see people walking. Wearing reflective materials can help keep pedestrians safe. Someone wearing reflectors can be seen up to 500 feet away, while someone in dark clothing is only visible from 55 feet.
Reflective tape can be applied to jackets, backpacks, walkers, and other outdoor items.
To get your free reflective tape, simply fill out one of the order forms below. Supplies are limited!

Parent Go-Guardian
GoGuardian Parent is a companion to the classroom management and internet filtering tools that your child's school uses for devices issued to students. Did you know that you can use the GoGuardian Parent mobile app to view and manage your student's online 💻 activity when they are on school-managed devices and district managed accounts at home?
What is the intention of the app?
By providing insight and controls over student browsing activity, our goal is to empower parents to take a more active role in their children's online learning. We aim to create a greater sense of transparency with student browsing to help bring about a greater sense of accountability on both the parent's and the student's part. We also believe that transparency and insight will increase the likelihood of productive student browsing habits on a more consistent basis.
What is included in this app:
- Top 5 summary of student browsing (apps, extensions, documents, and websites visited)
- Teacher interventions
- 30-day view of websites, videos, documents, apps, and extensions
- Ability to block websites on school-issued devices during out-of-school hours
- Ability to pause internet access on school-issued devices during out-of-school hours, either on-demand or at a scheduled time

VIRTUE OF THE WEEK
The virtue this week is RESPECT.
We show respect by speaking and acting with courtesy. We treat others with dignity and honor the rules of our family, school and nation. Respect yourself, and others will respect you.
Each week classes will select a student of the week who has demonstrated the week's virtue. Those students will be part of the morning show and get to announce their name at the end of the morning show on Fridays. Look for their names in next weeks newsletter.
