Thank you to all who were able to come to the holiday Show! Not surprisingly, we had a packed house! If you missed it, you can view the show in it's entirety with the below link.

During Library, students created an ornament based on one of the favorite book characters. Teachers and students voted for the winners.

An very kindergarten tradition for making gingerbread houses. Thank you to all the families that donated supplies.

To celebrate our all school read of The Nutcracker, all students painted or colored their own nutcracker.

Staff members had a contest, and students voted on their favorite one.

Congrats Mrs. Manzke and Mrs. Rayas

During the month of December, students are reading different versions of The Nutcracker. Today, the entire school went at view The Nutcracker Ballet at Dominican University in River Forest. Students and staff were in awe of the amazing performance! At the end of the month, each class will vote on their favorite version of the Nutcracker and will take a copy home with them! Orders will be placed in January!

Thank you to all the families that donated to the Walker Food Drive during our Kindness Week. Thank you Mrs. Manzke and the Student Council for organizing this event. All food that was donated was delivered o the Summit Senior Center!

Every Monday, we celebrate the successes of our students both academically and behaviorally.

We also celebrate those students that are making academic growth in school. Below are the students who received certificates from Lexia or X-tra Math.

The students participated in a movie day celebration on December 20th. Walker transformed into a theater with 5 movies showings that students selected. Students had a great time!

Hello Walker families! Please take a look for some important updates.

First and foremost, cold and flu season are here and the weather is much cooler now. Please make sure your student is appropriately dressed for the weather (coat and sweater) as students go outside for recess. Remind students to wash their hands frequently as well as wipe down chrome books daily to prevent the spread of germs. Please refer to the attachment of when to keep your student home when ill.

Next, Dental Day at Walker is February 20th. Sign up today for a free dental exam that fulfills the kindergarten, second and sixth grade registration requirement. If your student is currently in first and fifth grade, sign up now to get ahead for the next school year. Return the permission form or use the QR code that is attached.

Hearing and vision referrals were sent home. Please follow up with the appropriate physician and return the medical paperwork as soon as possible. Adequate hearing and vision are key for great academic performance.

Students at Walker this week celebrated kindness! World Kindness Day is November 13th and students have been preparing by discussing kindness in their SEL lessons and making either kindness flowers or crowns!

Please utilize student drop of line if dropping off by vehicle. Breakfast begins at 7:30 am. Please enter through door 1.

Dismissal

Students will be dismissed at 2:50 each day.

Kindergarten-1st- New office area.

2nd-3rd- Door 1

4th-5th Grade will exit from door 5 (adjacent to playground)
